band camp!!!

yay. so i'm in band camp for this week, meaning i'm not going to be posting hardly at all. early bedtime and such. and no, nothing sexual goes on there. but just because i feel like it, here's a summary of what i'm going to be doing.

8:00-11:30 = march around in front of the school working on fundamentals, or setting drill. this is the hottest part of the day, and you're garunteed to sweat like a pig.

11:30-12-ish = eat lunch. monday we had chicken fingers, rolls, green beans, corn, tater tots, fruits and veggies, and water.

12-ish-4:30-ish = music practice. we have a paid professional help us in our music either sight-reading, difficult parts, playing techniques (double-tounging, triple-tounging, air usage) memorization, and tone, intonance, etc. not as difficult as marching, and your in an air-conditioned building, so i like it.

4:30-ish-5:30-ish = full band. we meet as an ensemble and go over music, etc.

5:30-ish-6:15-ish = dinner. monday we had pizza, green beans, corn, fruits and veggies, salad, and water.

6:15-ish-8:00 = we go out and march again. it's pretty cooled off by now, but still warm, so it's not too difficult compared to the morning, but it's not pie either.

8:00-9:00 = this year it's some sort of bonding hangout time. monday we had ice cream, wednesday is a lock-in, and thursday is swimming.

and hey, at least feel sorry for me. here's the highs for the week, and because of humidity, heat index (what it feels like) is in and above the 100

I wish I got off that easy.
I have (well...had, I quit marching band a couple days ago >_>) two weeks of nothing but:
7:30-12:00: Marching
12:00-1:15ish: Lunch
1:30-3:30: Sectionals
6:00-8:30: Marching again

Which isn't quite as bad as I had it last year:
7:30-12:00: Marching
12:00-1:15ish: Lunch
1:30-3:00: Sectionals
5:30-8:30: Marching

And this is in Texas.

trumpet. one of those 1337 silver ones too :D. i got my braces taken off almost a week ago, so i had to pretty much reset my amashure (or however you spell it) and experiment with different lip-related stuff. i'm still working on it, but i'm making good progress. although i need to buy valve oil, a 3rd valve slide ring, and get 2 of my 3 main pipe supports welded back on. oh, and because my main lead pipe sorta hinges on the end support near the bell, depending on where it's at, my tuning slide either comes out easy as pie, or won't, so i have some string rigged up around it. quite a sight, i'm gonna have to get some pictures.

jks wrote:I'm on the drumline, but I dropped it this year, I'm too cool for band.
obviously you're actually not cool enough to be in band, so you dropped out :P. j/k, band's not for everyone, and i know some people that dropped out. also, i guess band camp just really puts everyone off, but when you think of it, it's just one week you have to do stuff. after that, it's practice, footbal games, and competitions. and competitions are fun.

well, lock-ins tommorrow night, so i'm gonna get my sleeping bag, change of clothes and stuff ready. i hope i can actually get some good rest, i don't want to have to stay awake all night making sure i'm not written on or something. haha, and then after that is swimming until 9, so i'm gonna spend alot more band time than i want to. oh well.

also, after band camp, my mom's gonna buy me a book from borders. i already know i'm getting a computer security-related one, but do you guys have any suggestions?

i just got back from the lock-in. DDR and super smash brothers melee until 1 am. then the guys went to go to sleep in the theater. i was actually gonna try and get some sleep so i wouldn't be fried the next day, but a war using shoes, hula hoops, and drumsticks as projectiles broke out between the stage and the audience, and didn't stop until 2 am. i had to set up my sleeping bag in a row of chairs to keep from getting hit.

and yeah, sometimes you just can't fit all the stuff you want into your schedule. for example, i had to drop JROTC for a language class, because i need two years of a language to graduate. speaking of schedules, i got mine from the info day they have, and they got almost every single class wrong. it was missing programming, networking, and all of the normal classses i requested as honors were standard. i don't think there has been a year where my schedule was right, but i'll just sort through it when school starts.

bleh. sorry if my spelling sucks, but i'm pretty tired right now. i'm gonna go to bed in minutes here.

grr, you guys are getting me mad with all this fake lazy schedule stuff.

anyways, it's friday! all i have left is a short practice on saturday and a show and i'm DONE! after which, i'll be getting a computer security book from borders, i have the art of deception and the art of intrusion already, so does anyone have any suggestions other than those?

also, my sectional teacher was a guy named eric yates who i believe lives in the chicago-ish area, anyone know him? oh, and i'm going to be cleaning my trumpet out all the way, then probably getting it taken into the shop and fixed after band camp. i want to make it nice and shiny.
