It's probly nothing, but go ahead and do a virus scan, followed by a spyware scan. Just to be on the safe side. And tonight, when you're getting ready to go to bed, start a scan disk, and after that's done, defrag it. Unless you do those often, that should also speed up your computer.

yeah i know all that stuff,

, but its done this before, and it just goes off and on. it gets up 700 kb/sec sometimes, but this is the slowest it has ever gotten

It could just be the site you're downloading from. It's probly nothing, like I said.

Strange... Maybe your connection weakened or something. Again, like I said; probly nothing.

Lijitsu is right, its nothing probably. My computer does this too but then it speeds right back up.

Do you have dial up? Dial up internet is very slow, DSL is extremely fast compared to the dial up internet.

We have 3 megabit cable but I'm starting to suspect my ISP is restricting my bandwidth because I download so much stuff, over the past 2 weeks I've downloaded 8 gigs in videos (no not horse porn this time...) and a ton of programs but my transfer rate is always like 30 kb/s or something, but I do get lucky once in a while with a 1500 kb/s download

Guys get back on topic, this isnt a discussion on what internet YOU have, its a discussion on what we can do to help gh0570fchurch.

not anything you can do to directly affect transfer speed. you could remove the transfer speed cap (no, i don't think it's a physical object) from your CSU/DSU (modem) but that would be reason for your ISP to remove internet access.
otherwise, the only time you'll probably achieve full download speed that your connection is capable of is when your the only client downloading from a server with a higher upload speed than your download speed. (aka: not going to happen anytime soon).

eh, a simple restart aint gonna fix that, if he's got a RAM hog he'll need to clean uo his system.
