Is the future we see in movies near?

I was just thinking, are we near the future that we see in movies like Aeon Flux and Serenity? It is looking like it from all of the structures being built these days such as the Falkirk Wheel in Scotland:

Theres a lot of structures like that being built all around the world and it looks so much like the structures seen in movies.

In the movie Aeon Flux all of the sets were in real locations.

Also, this building (Not built yet, they are still getting permission to build it), the X-Seed 4000 looks like the huge tower in the covenant city in halo 2:

The Evoluon looks kinda like a flying saucer:

The Groniger Museum:

Torre de Collserola:

Also a few structures in Japan:

Japan Buildings

Hong Kong Buildings:

Brazilia is probably one of the most futuristic looking cities out there:

Brazilia 1

Brazilia 2

All of these buildings are so fascinating to me (being the engineering freak i am).

I would post a lot more but I seriously doubt that all of you would look at all of these so these are all im going to post.

Do you think we are nearing the future that we see in movies?

OMG

i can't believe that building they're building. (the mountain). it's amazing what we're capable of today. i believe we can't be too far off from what we see in some of those movies. (well, some aspects)

they did have a plan to build an elevator to space....

But prolly the coolest, yet trippiest building I've ever been to is The Denver International Airport

What if in 2060, the thing that happened in the last couple of scenes in Star Trek: First Contact happened? Or what if we had a future like Halo?
That would be cool. :)

Yea man! near human extinction would be sweeeett.... but seriously... if you read the books of halo you'd know the despiration that the human race would be facing... Other than tht I don't think we'll ever find intelligent life on other planets because I am a creationist (now let's not make this thread religeous, I was just saying...)
