hi im doing a project for school and im studying nerds as a project, for one of my aspects i am studying i am saying that nerds dont care what people think about them, that they dont want to be cool and that they are "proud" (or at least almost) to be a nerd. please help me out by voting on the poll

Of course I'm proud to be a nerd. Plus, people don't think I'm a loser for being a nerd. They just ask for help on their homework

Im Proud to be one. Even though Im also athletic, and like being outside. Ive actually started a buisness putting Linux on iPods.... Some kid payed me 20 bucks to put linux on his 60GB.... My only advertisment is, that5 they know Im a nerd.

Pretty much. I mean, I don't really care if I spend a lot of time designing. I see it as a part-time job, since I'm too young to work right now. And it's making me money, so I don't care.

nerd as in smart?

As I see it, I dont really consider myself a nerd, I may spend 6 hours a day on my computer but hey, so what? Im I guess you would say part of the "in crowd" at school, I have a girlfriend (shes hott with two t's ). But Im also self employed, a couple of friends and I run an eBay business and an out-of-home computer repair business. But sure for what its worth Im proud, my gf thinks my smartness is hot

i dont really care... lol, a lot of people at my school say, "this is where all the nerds go...", and that is pretty much true, but the ratial ratio there is pretty much true for hispanics, too.

the common modern use of the word nerd is quite different than that, though.

I don't care what other people think. If I like Star Wars, Star Trek, computers, and that makes me a nerd, then yes. I am proud.

If you want to know why people don't like nerds I can tell you.

For lack of a better word, yes, I would say that I am "proud".
Proud that I will not die of a drug overdose in the next few years like some of the "in" crowd here.

And yes im proud, but just cause im a computer geek doesnt mean im a loser who sits in the halls with his laptop at lunch then goes straight home to get on the computer.
I also have a life, i go skiing, backpacking, hiking, i constantly go to concerts, and then.....homework :/

Anyways the point is, a lot of people streotype what a computer geek/nerd is.
