I never understood why so many hosting providers actually limit things like subdomains and mailboxes.
Which is why I don't use a hosting provider. I run a box out of my basement and I'm proud of it. $30/yr for my three domains, two of which I'll probably be dropping, don't know yet... I have unlimited ftp accounts, mailboxes, subdomains, MySQL databases, and potentially space (though the server only has a 40GB HDD). I never really liked control panels. Nothing beats an SSH session. I can track bandwidth and stats through my router. My mail has IMAP and POP access, plus I use RoundCube for webmail (I don't even use an IMAP client anymore...). Heck, I'm even starting some small, free forum hosting soon, with a system I built a year ago.

You must have a pretty bad idea about how business and money works then...

and having a 40GB HDD isn't "potentially unlimited". :P

For the same cost, a user can get an alternative provider who will not limit their functionality. As such, the argument can be represented that cutting features without a fair trade-off is worse for business and profits. Virtual web hosting does not vary drastically in cost in most cases, and it is not difficult to obtain more features for the same, or less cost. The company will benefit more from what their user desires than what services they provide in a market with little variation in content.

But if you don't limit anything, it's quite difficult to offer different 'packages' at different costs.

If you offer something with no limits, for say for example $20, how can you then offer something cheaper, without limiting something.

He's talking about companies that limit it regardless of a different package or something. He said nothing about what you're talking about.

Although I am NOT a DJ, I put DJ cause I couldn't think of anything at the time. I'll eventually change my name to something better though, when I think of it. Anyways, thanks again for checking it out if you do, kthxbai.<3
