GTA: San Andres taken off the shelfs

Rockstar has made some pretty good games such as the Midnight club series
and Red Dead Revolver but, then they came out with the GTA series which has
Congress taking action
a recent event has happened with GTA: San Andres that has changed the overall content rating from M (Mature) to AO (Adults Only)
that event has happened with a mod for GTA: San Andres that makes you see a sex secne behind a invisable wall that the modder know as "Hot Coffee"
got through the "walls" and saw it for himself and released the mod for the PS2
Rockstar claims that the modder made the mod himself
but the modder "Hot Coffee" says that Rockstar already made the content that was behind the "walls" and says that all he had to do get past the "walls" and also says that Rockstar whould never think that anyone would get behind there
this has also made some stores take off GTA: San Andres to be taken off their shelfs
whos to blame? "Hot Coffee" or Rockstar?
disscuss

I heard about this, and I may or may not have downloaded it(may)..
Frankly though, I think that people should have expected one of these games to do something over the top. It is GTA after all. If it is A/O, kids will not be purchasing it, and it is the parents that need to start taking the responsibility to monitor their childrens behavior, not store owners. This is typical with the middle class, so unfortunately it will be yanked. Badly animated figures performing simulated sex positions is a cause for conngressional action.. but not false claims for war (sorry that is for another time).
To answer the question at hand, I think it is neither Rockstar or "hot coffees'" fault. I think if people were a litttle more less.. 'uptight' (might be bad wording), this would blow over and we could all get on with life. I am positive that kids are looking at worse things.

I agree, like the congress doesnt have more stuff to do than pass laws about video games, we are in war time, and there are a lot more pressing matters. I believe the mod is to blame, because no one could possibly do it without direct and intentional manipulation of the game code, therefore you have to know what you are doing, and you have to want it. Rockstar may have put it in, but at least they censored it in the real version.

I agree with jks, but they did censor it, knowing that it was in there, why did they put it in if they didn't want someone else to see it?

Maybe they had intended it to be in there, but were too lazy to remove the coding

Ok, first of all these are the people to blame:
1. Hillary fucking Clinton.
2. Media.
The Media went f*** and blew the thing out of proportion, and didn't say a damn thing or have a single story about the opposition. You never heard of any people who wanted it to be kept, only the dumb fucks who have never so much as picked up a controller.
Hillary Clinton wanted legislation because she is looking for political leverage for a possible 08 election. She sucks, and I'm never voting for her.
Couple other things:
1. The scene was not a mod.
2. It was on the console versions as well.
3. Rockstar put it in the game as a mini game but took it out and made it impossible to get to it.
And last:
1. There were no organs shown.
2. They were wearing clothes. No nudity what so ever.

wes, you're not even 17 anyway.
Personally, I think it's a little of both; if it's in the game and the game is sold as an M-rated game but has AO-rated content, then there is the possibility that someone who is 17 can legally watch AO-rated content. However, the user has to intentionally alter the game (a Grey area already) in order to see the scene. One could change the MC's model so that it was sexually explicit using only what is already in the game, and people would call that the modder's fault. So yeah, the whole argument is a big Grey area.

I think Rockstar was asking for it by not removing the minigame entirely, but it does seem like it was blown out of proportion.

If you are a ten year old kid whose mother thinks it's okay to buy you a game that is rated M that involves killing innocent people for fun, then seeing some boobies isn't your biggest problem.
And i'm not saying that killing people in a game is bad (I own and enjoy GTA3, Vice City, and San Andreas), but first off young kids should not be playing any M rated games to begin with. And there is a line that should be drawn for games, and in the case of Hot Coffe I think Rockstar crossed that line, and it deserves the A/O rating, until the Hot Coffe minigame is removed.

Well we can see now that it was possible.
I agree about the media and how they didn't defend it.. but you have to remember who takes the media seriously.. it sure as shit isn't gamers. If they started defending this situation, they would receive so much flak.. middle aged house-wives everywhere would send in letters of protest... :bad ratings:.
To be honest though, I thought they messed this game up, regardless of "Hot Coffee".. I hope they don't get the chance to make another. GTA: VC baby!

this for some reason i was thinking can be relatede to an old South park episode, where the 4 kids buy ninja weapons and Kenny throws a Star at butters and butters gets hit. they discuise him as a dog and try to take him to a hospital but he runs away again. Butters runs to the local fair With the Star still stuck on his head and still bleeding goes on the auction stage. The 4 kids find him and cartman uses his special powers to make himself invisible. He takes off his clothes and walks onto the stage thinking hes invisible. so as everybody is looking at butters Attention slowly shifts to cartman and him being naked. Everyone forgets about the Bloody Butters and all pay attention to "Invisible" Cartman.
The Moral of this episode that was Stated and what I belive is that Sex can ovrpower violence.
oh and ,,!,,CONGRESS,,!,, GO DEAL WITH HIGH GAS PRICES AND TERRORISTS AND LEAVE US GAMERS ALONE!!!!!!
NOTE: Why not Make the Sims and Sims 2 AO too?? they got nude Genetics and even a Nude cheat embeded in the game? and Sims 2 is rated Teen. that my friends is soooooo f*cked up
