I've played my console for 6+ hours and it has no problems.
Also, that cooling device has previously melted the socket while in use.

The Nyko Intercooler is a possible solution, since it keeps your xbox cool. This cooling unit plugs into the back of your 360 using the 360's power supply. However, there's an ironic problem. The Nyko Intercooler is also badly designed ... and also melts. The problem is that the 360's power supply at times uses so much juice that the Nyko's adapter melts.

I've played 10+ hours at a time and had no problems...it's just random for some peoples' 360s methinks.

My 360 has never overheated and I've left it on all night. Infact I think its been 8 or so hours since it has been turned off

I have a 1st generation system and It's never had problems except sometimes the guide freezes.

My friend has a used Premium, no HDMI port, and we had it on from 3 in the afternoon to about 3 in the morning.

No melting, power brick explosions, or in game lag whatsoever.

i've been playing since 7 am and i havent had any problems

The problem has since been fixed, if I recall correctly. I don't know which unit was the cause, but I don't believe the melting occurs with anything recent.

It's XBL it took me twenty seconds to send a message and I didn't recieve one back for two minutes when my friend sent it a few seconds later.

Yeah, I've noticed it as well. And my Xbox in general has been slow...the Halo 2 logo in the main menu took like...5 seconds to load.

Note to self, never alt-tab out of World in Conflict. Why you ask? It sets your screen resolution to 640x480 with 4 bit color quality...which you can't change unless you restart.
