I've only read the first one, with their first encounter with a hunter (it suashed a jackal with its foot when it was in the way)

iv read all the books and in halo 3 the elites are more on there own side than human or covenant im sure they will play a huge role in helping the humans in the end but right now when the prophet lands on earth his whole army is pretty much brutes buggers and jackals still looks good

If he threw a grenade like that, his life expectancy would be very short.

It seems like it was more of a device that he planted...but had to do so very fast, so he just threw it into the ground. (not saying that's what it is...but meh)

Well on the commerical it just formed around him, maybe it has a specified radius.

I gots a 360...But it says Ketchup has his 360 bricked...So he doesn't get to play any poorly made next gen games to build his anticipation for Halo-3 and make him speculate (Eg, like "next gen" shiny bumps in Perfect Dark hehe)

in "The first strike" the master chief is on the unyielding hirophant or W/E its spelt as and he does fight a brute hand to hand and nearly dies untill he put a frag in the brutes belt and blows it apart.

After looking at it on a higher resolution, here's some screens I took...

Spike grenade.

The Arbiter getting totally beaten down by Brutes.

The most interesting thing is this:
The shotgun has no glow on the little blue things in one sequence, but in another, it does. Probably something to do with the two barrels? I'm sure it's not light hitting it in a certain spot, as they stayed that way, too.
