I don't care, I was simply rebutting a point he made in his analogy, clarifying for those who might be ignorant enough to make the assumption that smoking one cigarette will make you an addict from reading VG's parallel. Don't tell me no one is that dumb on this forum, a select few members have recently convinced me otherwise.

Smoking one cigarette will NOT make you addicted.
Luckily for me, that was a general metaphor being that it wasn't the a point ultimatum.
Likewise, unfortunately for me, I cannot prevent a literalist from reading my post as such for a point.

I hate it when people think smokers are 'bad people' and deserve the effects they have on people.

I'm sorry to hear about that man :( I hope you pull out of it..

i went to the doctor today and he told me that if i'll stop smoking then i'll have better chance to make it out of it the problom is that its hard for me to quit so if anyone have an advice for me how to stop smoking or smoking less then 20 cigarrets in a day, well, i'm open to suggestions.

Just off the top of my head, I'd say not dying would be great motivation to cut down.

I don't mean to be Mr. Obvious, but smoking, as bad as it is, isn't necessarily a one way ticket to hell.

Seriously, do you guys have to post this foul crap in a guys thread like this? He has cancer for gods sake, show some sympathy. Hate smoking all you want, but this is NOT the place to argue it. Show your maturity here.

The best way to quit smoking is with other people, like quitting anything, you can discuss your feelings.

Depends if you have a addictive personality some people can drink a few pinks of beer while others will drink a half pint and get hooked into becoming a alcoholic.

Willingly inducing sickness upon oneself is different than if you were an innocent in a scenario. People discussing it aren't really discussing smoking itself, but rather why one would knowingly contributed to their own demise without showing any willingness or motivation to stop.

He said he wants to stop, but it's hard. I'm guessing he's been smoking for a while, which means he started at a pretty young age, and younger people are more often easily persuadable compared to older people or tend to make bad decisions, because their brains are not completely developed(not always, but they're more prone to this). That's why there's a juvenile court system...

Susceptibility is not an excuse for continued behavior. There are countless ways to stop, and had he sought help, there are countless people and organizations devoted to helping.

its highly possible to get lung cancer at the age of 18 i mean the types of cigarettes are different in different parts of the world not to mention you never really know what can be in some of them. I smoke Malbro 27's and 72's and iv been trying to stop and have actually been making ground but my friend died of it by age 19 and he smoked from the age of 10 so i know its possible and not to mention if you develop small cell cancer it grows rapidly and kills you in a half a year or less.

Smoking that much in the first place, no wonder you have problems.

Despite that, I hope you make it, through. Just do everything you can to quit, and I think (I'm not a doctor, but it's pretty much common sense, not to mention, your doctor said it, too) that would go a long way to help your situation.
