I'm basically lucky to be alive right now...doctor said I was only saved by the fact that my neck is so muscular and stopped itself from breaking.
So here I am, sitting at a red light. There's a guy in front of me, nobody behind me. I drive (drove) a silver
Mazda Protege. Some woman in a rather large GMC Yukon came from behind and hit me going 50mph. My head whipped forward, chest hit the steering wheel, hands hit the windshield wiper and turn signal controls, then my body was thrown backwards...given my large frame, I actually broke the seat off of the track it's on that allows it to readjust the position. I found out that the second impact was from me hitting the guy in front. Yes, that's right, she never put her brakes on during this whole incident, she went from 50mph to hitting a stopped car and kept going, only to be stopped by my brakes and the brakes of the car in front of me.
So I got out of the car to survey damage, and an off-duty cop just happened to be driving by...he saw the whole thing. So luckily, there was no way she could lie her way out of it (granted, she seemed to be a pretty nice lady, and you could tell exactly what happened). The back doors couldn't open, the rear end was completely smashed in, there was transmission fluid leaking (I had to drive the car to a shoulder after a little bit, and I had to use a lot of force to turn the damn wheel), the front end was pretty fucked...the hood wasn't down all the way and the grill was broken to pieces. Basically, my car was totaled, I'll see if I can get pictures I took with my camera phone...even though they won't be the best quality.
As for my health, I have some scrapes and bruises all along my left arm, both hands, shins, and knees. This was also the first day of my college classes, so I had to walk about 20 minutes in the lovely Georgia heat (100+ degrees when it's very humid in a polo and undershirt sucks). I was about 25-30 minutes late to class, sweating my ass off, and basically looked like shit.
tl;dr version: Lady crashes into my stopped car, car's totaled on my first day of college. Walked to class, looked like shit.
