Signing up for XBL was probably one of the more difficult things I was able to get my parents to agree to.
You have to understand. You have to be mature about it. You have to be calm, cool, and collected. You must calculate every response and counter-attack your parents make. If you do all of this you will succeed, and yes, that is the process by which I win battles with my parents.
Its not enough to have valid points you have to be extremely serious and calm about presenting them. This is where the maturity kicks in.
Honestly though, if you really have nothing else to do, get it. XBL is a great service, granted that, but I can honestly look back and wonder why I wasted so much time on the service. That is one of the reasons your parents might be squeemish about it. XBL and online services have this notoriety of hooking people like crack.

Yeah, certainly not on a service that isn't free. Who would pay to maybe get something in return? I mean, I guess the lottery works that way, but I don't think molesting a little kid should be on the same level as winning the lottery...well, let's not go there.Dr.Cox wrote:Go outside instead.
Tell your parent pedophiles don't use xbox live. There not going to go out and buy an xbox and xbox live and halo 3 so the can molest little kids. That's what yahoo messenger is for.

Oh and what self-respecting gamer is going to let Pedophiles talk to them?
"Oh hey there little boy do you have nice legs, You want to get some Ice Cream with me??"
"(insert 13 olds Profanity filled rant here)"

Not removing this 'till I get back. Leaving on [01/05/09]

I beg to differ. My parents don't give a **** whose money it is for me. If I buy something I'm not supposed to, they'll bring it right back, or something. They basically have domain over MY money. I can guarantee you if I bought Live when I wasn't supposed to, my parents would punish me and bring it back.Senor_Grunt wrote:But who is going to take him? That is a good idea though, because for one thing, they cant take it from you because YOU bought it. Its your property, and they have no right to take it away. Besides their fake 'Parental Authority'.latinomodder wrote:Go to best buy and buy it yourself and don't use a mic...

My parents are awesome, I'm pretty much as honest as they get with them. I tell them almost everything. If we did something stupid last week I tell them, they just tell me what I did wrong.
I ask them for something, and as long as I pay for it I'll pretty much get it. If my grades are in the A-B range, Usually they'll go 50-50 with me. There really awesome. My step-dad can be a dick sometimes, but overall he's pretty cool.
My advice, just be honest. If your parent's are sensible they'll understand.

well you see... they really didn't know.WaywornMmmmm wrote:Did you mention that you previously played xbc to them? It seems that if they were okay with that, they should be okay with xbl.
as for them not knowing, to get live to where i play i have to run eithernet (spelling) from the router through a pre existing hole into the basement, into a new hole in the cold air return, up a story, around a 90degree bend, out my cold air return, around the room and to my 360. I estimate the distance to 75 feet. also, we dont keep the router or modem on, they might notice the blinking lights, they would definitely notice when i move the dresser, take off the cold air return vent cover, cut a hole in it, pull of metal sheet from the cealing in the basement. and i really cant afford the wireless adapter right now.
will any usb wireless g thing work with the 360 on a network running WEP 128bit (its an old router) I know M$ says no, but any Eithernet bridge worked with the xbox1 so i don't really believe then anymore.
could any people with kids tell what their argument would be so i can counter any possible negative response? thanks a lot, i appreciate once again how mature and friendly this community is. thanks
PCgamingmb? No Fee to play(unless you want to do WoW, or some shit like that) CSS is 20 bucks, 2142 is around 30. if Keyboard and Mouse isn't your deal, throw on your 360 controller. As for XBL play, Time for Hitman. I find it funny that your parents are afraid of Pedophiles and nasties more than they are giving you a game like Halo 3. because of the "Bad content that makes innocent little Johnny into a cold merciless killer." Make a deal with them. do the headset stuff like posted above, and this might sound cheesy, but set up a contract or something. Have them closely monitor your play. find "clean" servers. dunno how it is on Halo 3, and if you can even do deep server selection and such, but try to seek out "Christian" servers. It's a clean and friendly server, and make your parents know that you're playing in such environment.

the only problem is that i just sank the better part of $600 into a 360, TV game and controller. they want to use the computer too, and that was part of my argument for the 360, too. so no go on the PC gaming. i don't know about deep server since i have never been on live.Cuda wrote:PCgamingmb? The only thing about lying to your parents, is getting caught blows. If you get caught, which you will eventually, your probably gonna be fuck'ed.
Edit: If you get desperate enough, tell them they can put on parental controls, the newest update can even set a time limit for playing. If they find that out they'll probably let you have it.
