Legal or not?
me too. personally, i would ignore him, go home, and carry on with my life.
in your dilemma, however, there's a bad record of behavior for you, so he probably won't go easy on you, so i guess go in tommorrow and ask for it back, maybe play the "i didn't know about the new rule" stance if you think you can pull it off. tell him he can look on it and won't find any cheating devices (unless of course you have things on there the administration won't like
), that'd be a plus for you, and also say that it's necessary for you to complete certain homework assignments because they do not let you use the internet (step lightly here. i don't know how badly you broke the rules, and that would be a big variable for if this works or not.
in the future, wait until your at least on the bus, and keep the thing hidden. or better yet, start driving and burn CD. hey, i'll bet you could use cd players, there's not really much of a way to cheat with those.
oh, and tell us how you "defaced the website" and "sold stolen goods on school property". soundsl ike interesting stories.

ASPARTAME: in your diet soda and artificial sweeteners. also, it's obviously completely safe. it's not like it will cause tumors or anything. >.>

In computer class(last class of the day) we're allowed to listen to music, and I had the headphones in still, I didn't even have it plugged into the MP3 player, but he saw me with headphones, and knew that I probably had an MP3 player, and took it. The thing wasn't even freaking on.

I never understood why people think they have the right to anything in school. I think it's stupid that it's after dismissal, but if you want to argue your case, I wouldn't talk about My rights r st0len. I do think it's wrong if they keep it permanently (like forever), but I'm sure they can do that. Just request that you get it back. You can't fight the system, it just won't work in a school.

REST IN PEACE, HMC

if there's one thing i learned it's that yes, the rules suck. however, there is nothing you can do about it. it's a simple rule that doesn't intrude on your beliefs or freedoms. just avoid the problems and do as they say. there's no sense in fighting or trying to push them. or don't be dumb enough to get caught.
He can damn well try. I'm not sure how familiar you are with the Hacker's Ethic, but it is my life's set of rules, and I try to follow them to the letter, the rule most relevant to this topic would be :Dan!! wrote:You can't fight the system, it just won't work in a school.

When did I ever say that?Darco wrote:So he has taken the mp3 player twice now? Do you not learn from your mistakes?
I plan on taking action against the infringement of rights by schools rules and regulations.
I asked him for it back, and my teacher asked for him to return it to me due to the fact it was required for my assignment, and he refused. He also took the headphones which there is no rule against having, which is why I'm trying to get lots of people to wear headphones not plugged into anything just to annoy him. He says I can get the player back at the end of the year.

All your guy's schools are strict. Our teachers don't care, we can play games during class for all they care, just as long as we're quiet, turn our things in and get a good score on tests.Hawaiian Modder wrote:Woah your school is amazingly strict. Hawaiian Modder, I never said my school was like that. Mine is much more like JK-47's. If we're not distracting the rest of the class, we're pretty much free to do whatever.JK-47 wrote:All your guy's schools are strict. The teachers at my school get pissed cause the punishment system is corrupt and NEVER works.
My schools punishment for electronic devises including CD players, MP3 players, cell phones.
Basically, if its electronic, goes on your ear, and ain't a hearing-aid they demand you hand it over.
They claim you get it back at the end of the day but it usually gets stolen b4 then.
Knowing this, most students, including myself, simply tells them to screw off and get a detention instead.
Most students don't go to these detentions because they never remember to. And even if they did remember, they still wouldn't go.
The punishment for not attending your detention...nothing, they forget all about it.
On the rare occasion they do remember you not attending the detention, you get suspended and sent home to listen to your various music devises all you want.
Yep, the harsher punishments are the more enjoyable ones.
