I'm almost done with what I started on.. I started out with mapping my old school (which was previously an office building), and decided to convert it into an office :pG.I.R. wrote:I myself have always wanted to make a map of a real-world place (lol@whoever suggested their college after V-TechJK-47 wrote:I want to start getting back into Counterstrike Source mapping, but I don't know what to map.), just to make my friends uneasy. But I can't map, so, eh. :/
I've really been wanting to get into all sorts of stuff like that (weapon modeling, level modeling, texturing, etc.), but I just don't have a PC with the specs to do that kind of intensive processing. ;~;JK-47 wrote:I'm almost done with what I started on.. CS Mapping is actually extremely easy. You should definitely look into it when you get the time. FPSBanana has the best tutorials for it.
I've been promised some monies for a new PC when I graduate HS (seeing as that's sort of the field I want to get into as well, anyways). That on top of me getting a job soon could result in a system with more than enough POWAH to do all the fun stuff you guys with good systems have been doing for a while now. Also, darn it, we borked the rant thread JK. ;~;JK-47 wrote:I can see how that would be a problem.

have you turned down your resolution? do you even have a GFX card (not integrated)? have you tried using your GFX card control panel? And yet I can't run CS:S smoothly on my machine. Dangit.
JK-47 wrote:CS:S isn't a demanding game at all. I was able to run it with an old integrated nVidia chipset just fine.
What's all this about CS:S? I never mentioned it at all in any of my recent posts. :s If you look again, you'll see I was referring to modeling and texturing, not playing a game. Also, I have an nVIDIA GeForce 5500FX and a single core CPU, so yeah.guysullavin wrote:dude i can run CS:S on my Radeon 2600 HD Pro, and that thing is a POS
Did I mention only 1GB of RAM (old, slow RAM)? I can never get anything done modeling-/texturing-/compiling- wise because I always end up with some sort of error, or running out of system memory, or just plain BSOD.TomClancey wrote:Amen to that.
