It's pretty close. I'd be willing to admit the Halo series to the group had Bungie decided to make six or seven games.GametagAeonFlux wrote:There's a reason it's called a series. The games have enough differences between them to be unique. A passing glance may lead you to believe they're not very similar, but that's akin to saying Halo 1, 2 and 3 have "little difference" because they're all 3D FPS. I mean come on, every game has you fighting the Covenant, and then at some point The Flood. Must be the same, right?
I watch the games played, and they look rather similar to me. That's what I was basing my judgment on. As for doing research, I'm gonna go ahead and say no...GametagAeonFlux wrote:...uh...they're sports games. What do you want them to do? They've added plenty of new features since the series' conception, but you're obviously just being ignorant to that fact, jumping on the bandwagon of idiots on the Internet and saying "hurr game are same", so I'll let you go do some research on them before you make anymore baseless, *** remarks.
I could be.GametagAeonFlux wrote:Holy **** I stopped reading right there. Are you *** kidding me dude?
I will admit fault on this one. I have seen a couple of the games and they look drastically different. As for the combat system, I have really no idea. I was basing my argument on the fact that there's been, like, over 20 games related to Final Fantasy. It's my own personal opinion, that the story/"fantaverse" has got to end sometime.GametagAeonFlux wrote:You're going to tell me that the differences between Final Fantasy 1 and 12 are comparable to the difference between Megaman games? Every Final Fantasy has had SEVERAL new/unique game mechanics, usually its own unique battle system (or something pertaining to it, such as VII's materia system, VIII's junction system, etc) and of course an original story line/characters. Again, refer to the ending sentence of my last point.
Ohz I do love the fun facts. No sarcasm.GametagAeonFlux wrote: Fun fact, X-2 also provides somewhat of a link to Final Fantasy VII by way of the character Shinra, who states plenty of times that he wants to extract the planet's energy as a power source, the same way mako is used by the Shinra company in Final Fantasy VII. A director (Yoshinori Kitase) and scenario writer (Kazushige Nojima) have even stated that they "envisioned the events of Final Fantasy X-2 as a prequel to those in Final Fantasy VII".
Basically... yeah. I generally think that games with the same name are related to each other, as has been every other single game I've ever played...GametagAeonFlux wrote: Do you know anything about these titles or did you just see that they had "Final Fantasy VII" in them and assumed they were all the same game?
Yup. The ones admitted to the group are the ones with an excessive amount of titles.GametagAeonFlux wrote: AMAZING HOW IT WORKS FOR ALL GAMES WITH SEQUELS. Check this out.
I agree. If they decide to release a Gears of War 7, it will be added to my hypothetical group.GametagAeonFlux wrote: Same type of gameplay with each game? Holy crap Gears 1 and 2 both focus on a cover system. Check.
Slight graphics quality increase with each release? Hell yeah I can barely tell the difference between Gears 1 and 2. Check there.
Only major difference in game is the number on the title? Holy *** the first Gears didn't even have a number. This is a startling revelation. Check plus.
What a shocker.
You have successfully countered a statement that I made to sound clever.GametagAeonFlux wrote:Hurr bandwagon. Just curious, did you ever play Call of Duty 1-5? Call of Duty has changed in all of its iterations fairly significantly. 2 had a class system, 3 had a class system that featured ingame upgrades depending on your score, 4 had a create-a-class system that tracked global progress, and 5 has admittedly copied it, but they've added enough of their own features to it to make it unique, fresh, and enjoyable.
I'm pretty sure that I'm allowed to post stupid ****...GametagAeonFlux wrote:Anyways, to sum it all up. Think before you post stupid **** please.
Hold on, let me go read the rules again... Nope, nothing against it.
"Anyways, to sum it all up," I'm quite happy to see that you calmed down a little near the end. My comment was a stream of consciousness that I really paid little attention to during its conception. I actually went back and read it a few times after I posted just to read what I wrote. I didn't care nor notice any flaws because, well... I was tired... I've been in a state of depression since August... and I didn't really care. Nor did I feel that anyone would go so far as to make a point by point guide through how wrong my post was.
But much kudos for commitment.
I am impressed by your knowledge of final fantasy games... and a little frightened.
