Senior and junior year I would constantly run steam on the computers from my external HDD. XD yay for third period study hall.

If you're running windows, you know about the Run > MSConfig thing, right?ScottyGEE wrote:Who knew that restarting your computer made it run so much more efficiently?
I didn't...Until now.
EDIT: Saw V was pretty good.
(Highlight text in quote for spoiler...)It was like 90% flashbacks, with about a 10% story of it's own, though.

I didn't. I don't see too much benefit from it...I suppose its got a few more things in the one place rather than task manager and windows defender (though both have more detail). Thanks anyway.DrXThirst wrote:If you're running windows, you know about the Run > MSConfig thing, right?ScottyGEE wrote:Who knew that restarting your computer made it run so much more efficiently?

I lost interest in Saw after I...watched 3. All it seemed they were doing was increasing gore factor and crap. I don't care for that. I liked the story in the first one and the feeling that what happened there could happen to you. Sequels lost that for me.
Well, if you do it right, then it has very many benefits for your computer. You're freeing your computer from having to run lots of programs. I know you've already pushed it away, but let me elaborate my standing a little more. If you go to the "Services" tab, and then check the "Hide All Microsoft Services" button, then click "Disable All", that will disable all of the services that start up on your computer that really don't do anything for your computer but slow it down. An example would be the "iTunesHelper.exe" that I see in many people's Task Manager listings. It doesn't do anything, and I noticed that if you disable it, then start up iTunes and plug in your iPod, it never starts up. I don't know what it does, other than add a process to your list. Next, if you click the "Startup" tab, and then click "Disable All", then you will stop all of your programs from starting up from the second you hit the power button. My startup time is currently 13 seconds, because I've disabled almost everything on my computer on startup. My computer is also extremely fast, because it's only running the programs that I want it to run (Mostly FF, and AIM) and nothing else. It really does help, you should try it.
Oh, and I agree with the Saw thing, except for the fact that all of the movies are carrying on the story line but they have many twists and turns. I just don't like how right now, they're putting one out every Halloween, so they have an inability to finish what the previous movie showed, do flashbacks, and make the current movie have a story of it's own. It seems as if all of the movies now are just answering questions from the movie previous to the one you're watching.
Sorry about the huge walls of text, so here's a tl;dr:
1.) It works, read the paragraph. Extremely beneficial.
2.) Saw movies coming out too fast.

@DXT
Rather than me talking about how task manager and windows defender do the job better, I'll say this: I'm using windows Vista. I find that windows defender provides a much more detailed solution to startup programs and that task manager is very quick to open to check on services (since I always have task manager running) rather than having to search for msconfig (though that doesn't take long)
