I have used Vista; at work when it first came out, and I have it now on my gaming PC. I didn't like it then, and I don't like it now. Also, the "Mojave" experiment was cheap PR -- more so than any Mac commercial for sure. Obviously if you sit random people down and show them a select group of features in a controlled environment they are going to like it. With such a short timeframe they are probably going to be just impressed with things like the "sexy" Aero interface. As an experienced user, I find Aero to be a complete waste of system resources--especially for something that, frankly, looks way too over-done (someone went nuts with the gloss and transparency). Vista is also overly concerned with security, to the point where it is difficult for a user with Admin rights to modify system files and run applications. The Windows explorer is also lacking features included in XP. Live Search and the Home folder? Stolen straight from OS X.DrXThirst wrote:It was the honest truth of the way people were when Vista was first released. Exactly why Microsoft did the "Mojave" experiment. Yeah, Vista may have some compatibility problems, but other than that it's really good.
Also, Windows 7 may be awesome -- I'm not knocking it (since I have never tried it). I thought the comic was funny, regardless of what OS it was about. I guess some people can't take a joke...
Ok, I am just about to give up on this... I have tried about 5 times to download the 32bit version. The download would get up to 14% (351.98mb) and it would stop. I tried stopping, resuming, and nothing could get it to start again. I have tried FlashGet, Internet Download Manager, and the same problem. Why does it keep stopping?
EDIT: The download started again after 20 minutes... But It will probably stop in a few minutes again.

Lol, thanks, but no. I will try and arrange a day to go over to my grandmother's this weekend. She has super high-speed Internet and I can download the file in 10 minutes.DrXThirst wrote:I can send you a DVD in the mail.Eaton wrote:Ok, I am just about to give up on this... Hahaha "Hey grandma! Now let me just set up my laptop...". Speaking of high-speed internet, my DL speed here is just over 90MB/sEaton wrote:Lol, thanks, but no. Yeah, that's true. There are some things Vista did to improve from XP, and I hope they can continue that with Windows 7 (but learn from their mistakes as well).Cryticfarm wrote:Hey, just cause something is stolen doesn't mean it's a bad OS. Infact, it should make the OS better.mxrider108 wrote:Live Search and the Home folder? Stolen straight from OS X.
Heh, I go to GA Tech. Here are my results for Wired and Wireless (two different networks). I think the Wired upload speed is wrong tough, because there is a lot of security on the wired network and the test wasn't even reading an upload speed at all for a while...DrXThirst wrote:Holy ****. They are actual down/upload speeds, but they only measure your speeds to and from a high-speed server near by. Thus, they really measure your theoretical download/upload speed, or your total individual bandwidth. While I don't actually get 90MB/s on most downloads, it is not uncommon for me to get 15+, and I can be downloading some massive file or torrent on my computer while playing XBL on my 360 -- all with zero lag (that is something I could not do at home).DrXThirst wrote:Yeah, but sometimes the results you get on there aren't your actual download and upload speeds.
Actually, most of the time.
