Grey Goo

Post by Cryticfarm »

Grey goo happens with a replicator floating in a bottle of chemicals replicates itself in say, 1000 seconds. So in 1000 seconds there would be 2 replicators and so on. At 10 hours, there won't be 32 replicators but over 68 billion. In less then one day, they will weigh a ton, in 2 days, they will outweigh the earth. In another 4 hours, they would exceed the mass of the sun.
Do you think this could happen somewhere in the furture?

According to the conservation of matter, that theory fails, miserably.

Do you know how much bigger the sun is then the earth, if the sun was a soccer ball the earth would be a little smaller then a dime :?

For anybody still wondering where FTD has gone, here it is.

Both, you cannot destroy or create energy and matter only convert it to other forms.
in the case of matter it would either be through atomic fusion or fission or through making a new compound element.

This 'slime' of Crytic's could take in energy from its surroundings, just like a plant or bacterium, no?

One can convert energy to matter, but it takes a lot of energy to make a very small amount of matter... It's also a lot easier to just convert matter to energy.
