Prolly cause the girls so far in the family have made "poor" choices. (MY PERSONAL OPINION)

It will cause her problems for a long time to come. Id just be abstinent. Id definetely not have an abortion (it is sooo wrong on many levels and should be banned) i would consider putting it up for adoption it because i know a 16 year old will mess up trying to raise a child
My mum had me at 17. I'm fine.

Age is irrelevant when it comes to parenting, some people make good parents... others do not.

Parenting is nature, at the end of the day.

You may just be an exception. There are enough poor children in the world; you don't have to contribute to that because of your irresponsibility to make certain judgments.

Of course making the right judgments doesn't have to do anything with age and it seems like your mom made the right one. But you can't generalize that. I'm pretty sure Jamie Lynn Spears didn't become pregnant because she thought she was ready to be a mom.

Admittedly I was an accident, but my mum doesn't regret it for one minute now. (Or so she says :P)

Financially it's not the smartest move in the world, but I really don't think something like this should get such a huge amount of negative press.

I know of mothers in their late forties and early fifties that are far worse parents then some girls I know from school that have already had children.

I imagine it's morally a lot worse over there because generally speaking there are more religious people in America.

I believe it's more of a matter of consent here...the lowest state age of consent is 16 (except in PA where it's 13 under some odd condition), but depending on the state, she may have broken the law or something.

iGeo may be the exception, but the young mom deal causes a lot of problems at my school. It tends to create a single parent home, mainly because the mother is young and the father walks out, and it causes a lot of stress with the people. The mom still thinks she can enjoy her youth and neglects the kid. I still think the Safe Child Surrender is an excellent option for most, but many tend not to take that option. Instead, they attempt to raise the kid in mediocre fashion and neglects the kid.

whats the big deal? i mean, honestly a good number of girls get pregnant early. i have friends who were pregnant at 15, but jsut because a star gets pregnant, half the world needs to go crazy? im not sayin its wrong, i jsut dont see the big deal. shes jsut another human, nothing more. dont be shocked, it happens all the time. really, age isnt shit. its just what modern society makes you think. really if it wasnt for shit laws and stupid rules, this wouldnt be surprising at all. thats why i cant follow a religion, because i dont believe that sex before marriage, or ANY age is right. any other animal can do it whenever, but not us? just an opinion, just for those certain admins that just LOVE to smite me...

Small, but Key Question. Did you read any of the things from the last few pages showing how it is WRONG for Her to be pregnant?

Matt, they have these laws because generally, kids aren't ready to be parents. How would you like to be living life fine one day, having freedom and all your time to yourself, then slip up one night and have a child? It's a life changer and you have to take on a whole set of responsibilities, meaning your child-like-life is gone.
This is why it is wrong, and this is why we have laws. Animals can do it whenever because they don't have laws, and they're just going by nature and instinct. I don't say this because I follow a particular religion, I say this because I take time to think of negative effects something can have.

You are right in the fact that just because she's a celebrity it shouldn't be a big deal, but it is because following celebrities actions is like a lifestyle to people. And personally, I can't believe this discussion is still going.

This is nothing to really be surprised about. I know a few people who had a kid at 16 and are still doing just fine today, plus its legal if your 16 in NZ...

Have you ever babysitted (even helped, for a short period of time)? Imagine that, 24/7, except now, you have to buy the baby food, things to play with, clothes, etc. All on top of still going to school.

I think you guys have just metaphorically sterilised me. People who have sex when they're still at school don't generally want to have children. Raising up your litter is a fine responsibility reserved for older folk.
For anybody still wondering where FTD has gone, here it is.
