You mentioned four courses that are advanced or AP. That's four extra points you can get on your GPA if you get A's, giving you an average of about a 5.6 GPA. A 4.0 is still good, but with four advanced classes, it could be much higher.
You can't get higher than a 5.0, because AP classes are worthy 5 grade points, so even if you had all AP classes, your average would be 5.0
Some schools (like mine) are on a 6 point scale instead of a 5 point scale. I have no idea why.

and try to make us believe it's for our own good, yet we're the criminals.
Oh you know those ISP's, computer programmers, and gamedevs always bombing and warring and lying and murdering and cheating! Thank god mister hacker saved us.

The problem with this guy is that he thinks that everyone else is EVIL BAD PEOPLE and that what he is doing isn't vandalism or a crime, but some kind of perverse freedom of expression which is entirely justified by the imaginary vices he makes up and attributes to whoever or whatever he's harming. He steriotypes all of society and when they steriotype him and 'his kind' he cries all the way to Microsoft Word. He equates all of society with whatever he believes it is doing and decides it's his duty to go against it and when people complain that he isn't doing what he should be, he whines that he's misunderstood when he's just a hypocritical elitist living in a fantasy world where he expects to be rewarded for what he's doing.

I lol'd hard.
I hardly see it as profound or beautiful. It's the whiny ramblings of some elitist computer nerd who thinks he should be exceptioned and praised for something no one asked him to do.

I'd like to imagine that your pride and vanity will come back to get you some day. A lazy braggart never gets anywhere in life. On the other hand, you'll be teh c00l3st guy on slashdot, you l33t haxor, you.

You people still don't get it... you think hacking has to do with computers? It doesn't, you know absolutely nothing about it, please keep your misinformed comments to yourself and only reply when you have read something about the subject. And lastly, imgettionowned, you know nothing about my life, please shut up. I am smart, very smart, but it is possible to have no motivation, you are exactly the kind of real-worldist prick I have come to hate, beliving that grades makes the man. A direct quote from Einstein - "If I had been an academic for the first 20 years of my life I would have never thought of the things I did." I have never gotten below a 97% on any test in any class I've ever taken, I just don't turn in the work because its a waste of my time. Stop jumping to conclusions, I could say the same about you. You people have no idea about the implications of this, the will to learn and better yourself has been lost, and that explains why. My crime is curiosity, my crime is knowing more than you, a crime you will never forgive me for. And I found out the answer to the second problem, I was mistaken about the derivative formula.

f(x)=sin(4x)^2
f'(x)=2sin(4x)cos(4x)4
4pi/12=60degrees
sin(60)=rt(3)/2
cos(60)=1/2

So 2 * 1/2 cancel out and you are left with (rt3/2)4 which is 4rt3/2=2rt3 I don't think that site is right.

Edit: They aren't right, they simplified it to 8(1/2)(rt3/2) which would still give you 8rt3/4 which is 2rt3.

yea... i'm no good in calculus, so w/e. but the 4√3 (4 root 3, i used the charmap to find it) sort of numbers, where it's #√# seem pretty stupid to me. i just think it's a waste of time to express a number like that as opposed to it's decimal form.

4(√3) = 6.92820323028

Well a lot of times it is easier to use that, because by definition the nth root of any number is irrational, meaning it is a never ending decimal with no fraction equivalent, so for accuracy's sake you keep everything in radical format while solving equations.

imgettingowned, im getting really sick of you, who really cares if jks is lying? What, does it make you sleep well knowing that you disprooved someones statement. What if what he is saying is true? Or what if what he is saying is false? Does it really matter, no. Now stop getting offtopic, if you want to rant about jks, make your own topic.

yeah, the #rt# is more accurate, but i just don't like using it in equations. kinda confuses me, putting an equation inside another equation in a number's place.

I hope all of you realize that jks didn't write the manifesto, he just posted it in these forums. speaking of the manifesto, i found this on the net. it's the EFF's declaration of the independence of cyberspace written by John Barlow (as far as i can see. his name's at the bottom). i think it fits with the manifesto well, and is a good read. i also think it will start healthy debate without the flames.

the only thing i changed was i added 10 hyphens to the top and bottom of the title, so it would be (mostly) correctly formatted, coming from a .txt document to forums.
John Barlow wrote: [----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------]
[ declaration of the independence of cyberspace ....... john barlow of the EFF ]
[----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------]

Governments of the Industrial World, you weary giants of flesh and steel, I come from Cyberspace, the new home of Mind. On behalf of the future, I ask you of the past to leave us alone. You are not welcome among us. You have no sovereignty where we gather.

We have no elected government, nor are we likely to have one, so I address you with no greater authority than that with which liberty itself always speaks. I declare the global social space we are building to be naturally independent of the tyrannies you seek to impose on us. You have no moral right to rule us nor do you possess any methods of enforcement we have true reason to fear.

Governments derive their just powers from the consent of the governed. You have neither solicited nor received ours. We did not invite you. You do not know us, nor do you know our world. Cyberspace does not lie within your borders. Do not think that you can build it, as though it were a public construction project. You cannot. It is an act of nature and it grows itself through our collective actions.

You have not engaged in our great and gathering conversation, nor did you create the wealth of our marketplaces. You do not know our culture, our ethics, or the unwritten codes that already provide our society more order than could be obtained by any of your impositions.

You claim there are problems among us that you need to solve. You use this claim as an excuse to invade our precincts. Many of these problems don't exist. Where there are real conflicts, where there are wrongs, we will identify them and address them by our means. We are forming our own Social Contract. This governance will arise according to the conditions of our world, not yours. Our world is different.

Cyberspace consists of transactions, relationships, and thought itself, arrayed like a standing wave in the web of our communications. Ours is a world that is both everywhere and nowhere, but it is not where bodies live.

We are creating a world that all may enter without privilege or prejudice accorded by race, economic power, military force, or station of birth.

We are creating a world where anyone, anywhere may express his or her beliefs, no matter how singular, without fear of being coerced into silence or conformity.

Your legal concepts of property, expression, identity, movement, and context do not apply to us. They are based on matter, There is no matter here.

Our identities have no bodies, so, unlike you, we cannot obtain order by physical coercion. We believe that from ethics, enlightened self-interest, and the commonweal, our governance will emerge. Our identities may be distributed across many of your jurisdictions. The only law that all our constituent cultures would generally recognize is the Golden Rule. We hope we will be able to build our particular solutions on that basis. But we cannot accept the solutions you are attempting to impose.

In the United States, you have today created a law, the Telecommunications Reform Act, which repudiates your own Constitution and insults the dreams of Jefferson, Washington, Mill, Madison, DeToqueville, and Brandeis. These dreams must now be born anew in us.

You are terrified of your own children, since they are natives in a world where you will always be immigrants. Because you fear them, you entrust your bureaucracies with the parental responsibilities you are too cowardly to confront yourselves. In our world, all the sentiments and expressions of humanity, from the debasing to the angelic, are parts of a seamless whole, the global conversation of bits. We cannot separate the air that chokes from the air upon which wings beat.

In China, Germany, France, Russia, Singapore, Italy and the United States, you are trying to ward off the virus of liberty by erecting guard posts at the frontiers of Cyberspace. These may keep out the contagion for a small time, but they will not work in a world that will soon be blanketed in bit-bearing media.

Your increasingly obsolete information industries would perpetuate themselves by proposing laws, in America and elsewhere, that claim to own speech itself throughout the world. These laws would declare ideas to be another industrial product, no more noble than pig iron. In our world, whatever the human mind may create can be reproduced and distributed infinitely at no cost. The global conveyance of thought no longer requires your factories to accomplish.

These increasingly hostile and colonial measures place us in the same position as those previous lovers of freedom and self-determination who had to reject the authorities of distant, uninformed powers. We must declare our virtual selves immune to your sovereignty, even as we continue to consent to your rule over our bodies. We will spread ourselves across the Planet so that no one can arrest our thoughts.

We will create a civilization of the Mind in Cyberspace. May it be more humane and fair than the world your governments have made before.

Au Contraire, you are the one who blames your laziness on lack of motivation and ADD. You have been tricked by yourself into believing that you are the smartest person in the world. I love it when people try to compare themselves with Albert Einstein because he didn't get good grades. Albert Einstein was a prodigy, a singularity, you have nothing in common. And as for the whole 'I don't need to show my work because I'm a genius' thing. Let me tell you a secret. Everyone in your class can do the work in their head. They just realized long ago that to avoid conflict, and build up good habits, that it was worth it to show their work.
This will be my last post in this topic because it is just making me mad. I'm just going to let it go and I suggest everyone just lets this topic die, for everyone's sake.

I made a discovery today. I found a computer. Wait a second, this is
cool. It does what I want it to. If it makes a mistake, it's because I
screwed it up. Not because it doesn't like me...
Or feels threatened by me...
Or thinks I'm a smart ass...
Or doesn't like teaching and shouldn't be here...
Damn kid. All he does is play games. They're all alike.

And then it happened... a door opened to a world... rushing through
the phone line like heroin through an addict's veins, an electronic pulse is
sent out, a refuge from the day-to-day incompetencies is sought... a board is
found.
"This is it... this is where I belong..."
I know everyone here... even if I've never met them, never talked to
them, may never hear from them again... I know you all...
Damn kid. Tying up the phone line again. They're all alike...

I am not the smartest person in the world, stop taking what I am saying the wrong way. Many of the people I know compare me with Newton and Einstein. I am in no way ever the smartest person on earth, I believe I said that there will always be someone smarter. I have the will to learn where others don't, when I get something wrong I don't just say "oh I got it wrong" I try to figure out how and why. I do show my work in class because like you said it avoids conflict.

Also, being emo has everything to do with this.

emo = emotional, and jks is very emmotional

Really? That's not the case with my school. The highest GPA possible is a 5.666666.

I feel so stupid with everybody talking about all this complex math. I only took Algebra 1 this year. I'm taking Honors Geometry and Honors Biology next year.
