I highly DON'T recommend a modchip. Softmodding your Xbox is safer, easier, and it is the best way to do it. Once you softmod, you can copy modded maps to your hard-drive.

Both methods of xbox modding are equally as dangerous and you get pretty much the same results from either one.

Only real difference between the two are the methods of installation and softmodding is by far cheaper than a chip.

If you think you can avoid screwing up (it's not that hard), then I would recommend softmodding because it is easier and cheaper.

But can Mech Assault and Splinter Cell and 007 still be found in their non-platinum versions? Those games are ancient now, and that's what makes it difficult. I'm considering this question myself, and I think I'll have to get a mod chip because the exploited games are so hard to find.

I totally reccomend a mod chip. It makes it possible to keep your xbox perfectly safe. If I ever ran into a problem, like my xbox not booting, I could always make my way to the chip's OS ( I use and reccomend a Xenium Gold if you want to pay for it). I find it very improbable that running everything off your harddrive is safer than having a chip to use if something goes wrong.

That is not necessary, i preffer a HotSwap, its pluse easy than a modchip

i don't feel continue because that is not permitted here, and i don't wanna get banned, go to Xbox-Scene.

Softmodding is the worst and most dangerous way to mod your xbox. It is easy to loose your backup, and eeprom. With a modchip you can easy mod your xbox, and most of the chips today store a backup of your eeprom on the chip.

I would recommend a modchip, specificly a Xecuter, there the best chip on the market and have solderless adapters.

Maybe if you're dumb. If you have any ability to follow direction and not randomly format shit, you won't have an issue. Transfer one save, load it, install, done. No opening of the console, no hassle, no waiting for shipping, nothing. It is a very simple process.

Same here. X3's are the best to me and you don't have to take apart your pc when you need to reformat your xbox's hard drive. Chips can support larger hard drives then a soft mod so if you wanted to you could install a 1T hard drive and get every bit of space from it. If you get tired of your default dashboard you can just change it and if your chip can't find the dashboard it just reboots back to the bios so you can ftp and find out whats wrong.

Maybe if you're dumb, everybody can get a autoinstaller like Slayer or ZXBInstaller, that includes a lot of dashboards, xploits, the hacked profiles, Emulators, Apps, Linux and more

Softmodding is the best, ease, fast and cheap way. and with EvolutionX Dashboard you can backup your EEPROM and with UXE xploit plus PBL Metoo you can support a massive HD

Yes, but atleast half the people who do softmods mess them up. Yea its easy and any moron can do it, but any moron can also brick their xbox. And you can also backup your eeprom and all that, but you can also loose it.

The safest way is to hardmod, it may not be convinent or easy but its a lot safer when it comes to the life of your xbox.

Nice, it worked fine but it killed your box...

Any box can be fixed with a solderless modchip, so softmoddding is the best idea. You can always chip it.

Ahh, I see the definition of "worked fine" has changed since I last checked. I gotta keep up to date with these things.

BTW, I did find 1 little problem with using my modchip instead of a softmod. Installing the debug xr8d thing can drive you insane. You have to load XR8D everytime or halo 2 maps don't load.

But if you have a problem to begin with you can delete EVERY debug file if you have a modchip. If not then you almost have to wipe your drive.
