SP -> MP BSP Conversions Problem

Hello,

I follow all steps to get a SP -> MP Conversion, my base is gemini.map with original size 48.613 KB, when i rebuild the map with H2Core, i think a BSP from campaign has a bigger size, but i obtain the Black Screen of Death and a 22 -> 25 MB map :(, What's wrong? Every time i Rebuild a map(without modding and stuff) the size isn't the same...

I hope that you understand this because English is not my natal language

Thanks

Well, your English is still better than other people here who have English as their first language.

Can you post a link to the tutorial you followed?

Try using beaver creek as your base map and before you do another conversion delete the tag folder h2core saves to, that way you know you getting clean tags.

And is this the tut u fallowed?: http://forums.halomods.com/viewtopic.ph ... 516#801516

You don't need 2 gigs of ram, I get good builds with 1 gig of ram.

Does H2Core work with Vista? That and Project P just spas out and don't work. I'm assuming they only work on XP.

The size will always be different even if you dont change anything. Also you need to null all the lsnd sounds in the sbsp tag.

h2core will work with vista but you need to set your theme to basic or the classic theme. I noticed the aero theme makes h2core go nuts.

Well, H2 Core works better on Vista than XP. You just have to set a small compatibility setting on H2 Core and Guerilla to make them work. The problem is the sandbar.dll used in the application. Right click the H2 Core and Guerilla exe files, go to the "Compatibility" tab, and check this box:

Checking that box on Project P will make it work as well. Same with other applications that give you that error.

You're just a really helpful person! That actually worked for running H2C and H2G.

I wasnt sure if i should make a new thread for my problem, or just post here because mine seems to be the same as his.
Ive been trying BSP conversion with Single player to multiplayer maps (trying to get the metropolis bridge as a mp map) for nearly 3 weeks now. Every time when i try to play it I get the black screen where it stops loading.
It seems I am converting it correctly.

Another thing i noticed is that when I ftp the map over without changing the spawn, it loads fine, with me REALLY far away from the bridge, floating and unable to shoot, crouch or really anything else.
Then i try to reposition spawns over bridge using Entity. Thats when it stops working.
Does anyone know whats wrong here? Ive tried 3 different tutorials, and got the same thing every time.

Oh! and sorry if this is considered offtopic or topic jacking. Seems you solved his problem in this thread, and since mine is basically the same i figured i would just post here.

1. When you convert a map, you need to open the Entity BSP Viewer and move the player spawns into a playable area of the map because they are not in the right place and are way out of the map.

2. If it freezes in gameplay, it is most likely the lsnd tags. Null all of the ones in the sbsp tag.

I did both of those and the game still freezes. The funny thing is the game doesnt get the black screen problem until I move the spawns into a playable area. When i ftp it over when the spawns are still way far out of the map, it loads, but i just cant do anything. Then i go into Entity BSP Viewer, move them to the bridge, and THAT is when the problem starts

Sounds like a bad conversion. Try my tutorial and see if that helps.

Lol. I used your tut. And Cougars. And Zone 117s.
5 different times. :) Dont get me wrong, they are very good tuts and i really appreciate them. :D

So ur sure its a bad conversion? I thought a bad conversion would be it not working at all. It works before changing spawns (Though im not positioned right), but not after.
Ill trust your judgment, i just want to be sure you knew that part.

Would the conversion be corrupt if i went through and deleted some stuff before rebuilding? To make the file size smaller i deleted the covey capital ship, scarab, and trees. Since i figured i wouldnt have to use them.

There are two other things that may be causing it.

1. Make sure you spawns are spaced out and not all in one small area.

2. The Xbox's processor can only do so much. For the very large BSPs that get over 100mb, there is a good chance it will freeze because the Xbox just cannot load a map of that size.

Oh so i need to move all the spawns around first? They are still all in one big clump. I believe thats where your tutorial left off

So ill try to move them around and see if that helps

The map im trying to do is the Metropolis Bridge portion, and that has been done before so shouldnt it work?

Yes. If moving the spawns around doesn't work, try doing it again or I can do it for you.
