A while back I saw some pictures of people playing the Halo 2 beta, on a "private server." I was just wondering, was it ever released to the public?

No, and it never will be. People have it but wont give it to you

. There are those who stole it, not mentioning any names but you can only play it on partner net so you would need a dev box.
