ok i was thinking about the halo 2 map pack expansion sold in stores and thought is it possible to study the cd and be able to make CD's that can load the new maps you would like to your xbox without softmodding or using a mod chip i know nothing about modding my xbox and am im the process of modding mine.

also is softmodding less expensive then a mod chip?

even if you could do that your xbox would have to be modded to load the cd

its not possible to load a burned cd/dvd xbox game on a non-modded xbox as I know of and I've searched all over and tried multiple times. You can get the xbox to read it but it won't load, It just gives you an error that says the disk is not supported or something like that.

Softmoding is cheaper then buying a modchip but you can't save any full xbox games to the stock xbox hdd if you softmod. As I know of the only place I could find that still sells modchips was in Europe but they don't ship to the U.S. and some don't even ship to Canada. You might be able to find someone on xbox-scene who might sell you one but its kind of risky so I wouldn't suggest it unless your in desperate need of one.

I'll stay away from mod chips and work on soft modding theres plenty of tutorial's that i can make it virtually whatever i want.

also i am 99% sure that the xbox has a after market HDD I will ask the person i bought it from and post back in this thread.

NVM DO NOT LOCK THIS TOPIC!

this is the cheapest way to softmod all it needs is a blank cdr and a hotswap its the way I did mine in may and it has given me no problems http://www.google.co.uk/search?client=f ... gle+Search
I can't post a direct link because it would be deleted

I forgot to add, if you softmod and want a larger hard disk drive (HDD) than you will need a bunch of apps that are a pain to find so if you need them ask me.
