Halo 2 Modding Encyclopedia.
Halo 2 Modding Encyclopedia.
I have been meaning to start this for a while now, and I finally got around to it. Help keep the halo 2 modding community alive by contributing what u can to this Encyclopedia. It is in a VERY EARLY stage and doesn't have but the most basic of info at this point. Tutorials, Tag Research, Programs etc can all be posted here in one convenient Encyclopedia of knowledge. I will be keeping backups and organizing it often as to prevent any problems. Thank you for any contributions you make as they are highly appreciated.

Never mind.
You just have to create an account to edit.
Anyways, yea, I added some links to tutorials and links to Entity and other apps.

Theres a little green edit button towards the top in the orange bar with
"Article (Edit) | Discussion History Report a Problem",
use that.

Please make sure to keep a backup of the info. If the account and info from there gets deleted I will host it for you guys. Or try to at least.

So it is for sure not going to be deleted? Is there a possibility we could copy all the content from the tutorials but put a link to the topic incase the topic gets deteted or burried.

Let me clarify. If I make anyone feel extreemly dumb I am sorry but sometimes I must clarify in my normal sense or in a sense which makes people feel dumb.
I have seen people so far post tutorial links that post straight to this website. This website and its tutorials have been known to have pictures taken offline because of crappy hosts as well as files being taken down because of people not using them, etc. So as to that reason I asked if we could copy all that information (pictures and files and all) from the tutorials to the actual mod encyclopedia or another host that will not take down the files.
In addition to getting the tutorial materials hosted in a good secure place it would be wise to put links directly to the post as they are right now so as this community can keep it updated or add posts to the topic and such for others to view and possibly repost to the encyclopedia.
Also since this is a mod thing why couldnt we just host a website as the encyclopedia that is run by this community but in a secure location that cant have the topic removed so easily. It would be great if it could merely be an extension of this forums website we are on right now. It would be sort of like the plugins website.
I hope this wall of text clarifies my small little blurb I posted and got questioned about. I hope these ideas will be understood more clearly now. If I have misspelled something or worded something incorrectly I appologize as I am not an english major and even if I was I am as you all are, just human.
Anything else possibly that I may elaborate on?

I was looking to be reaffirmed that the halo 2 encyclopedia of modding was not going to be deleted. I wanted to know for sure since there is always great debate about things being legal or not. If someone there is getting touchy already I just wanted to make sure that it was going to be safe. What I originaly said:

We sure could use the site he posted on to make the format and then just copy and edit the html unless you have some snazzy website editor that makes it easy for links and crap. Our own server would be sweet. I actualy have a freewebs account that I started a mod thing on but then I found this site. I still was hoping since then I could clean everything up and make it nice. Not enough time.
We do have the resources I think on this site to make a realy sweet encyclopedia we just need to scour it and organize. Then maybe figure out what is left to figure out and add it such as the hard to do weapons and vehicles.
Here are some ideas I have to get fixed and put in:
BSP collision fixed - phantom, longsword, pelican, etc.
Weapons - gravity hammer with proper working tags and meta
Added weapons/vehicles/etc. library for rebuild in entity
Beginners kit - Some downloadable tutorials with needed programs to get a beginner started and on his way to "professional" modding

It is secure now. In the worse care scenario, i get emailed about every change and i make a backup every time. So should there be any problems at all nothing will be lost. As for the tutorials leave them here, do not copy them to wikia as it will cause spam and like you said they can be updated here on halomods.
What is mainly needed is detailed explanations of all the tags, PHMO, BLOC, etc....
Try to elaborate on them as much as you can, detailing the different variables and options within the tag and what they do, ALTHOUGH a brief description is better than nothing.
Red text means it has no info at this time and is highly in need of being updated, Simply click the Red text and it will bring you striaght to an editor in which all u have to do is add info, and save.

If the tutorials are only linked to here and then the info is deleted from here then we lose information. A way around that? Why would it cause spam if we put the tutorials up? Possibly just make a secure version of the tutorial and link to it? I mean some people make posts here then get rid of them because getting pissed or something.
