Map Cleaner Idea

It is very irritating when I have to keep re-copying my maps from the disk when I accidentally patch or mod my 'backed up' copies that I-so-stupidly place in my Maps folder. I need to get a bigger HDD in my PC or something. But is it possible to make a tool to wipe out any changes to the map file? Sort of, save the original file as a patch, and delete any changes made? It would really solve my problem...

No. Dozens have asked. Patches compare maps and then make changes. To do such a thing, you would have to generate a patch between the specific mod and the original map, meaning you'd have to have the original to make such a patch. It would be entirely pointless. Make backups of your map somewhere and don't modify them.

actually it could be done by an app that has all the tags of the orginal map in it.. then takes the modded map and rebuilds it to the original... but im not sure if thats legal or not X_X

make a .rar of all your backups... when you want to mod a map pull the map out of the rar (copying it at the same time ofcourse) and it'll save you a lot of troubles with accidentally modding your backups.

But to do that, you would have to have every byte of every map file stored within the application >_>

As llama said, just backup your map files using some sort of archive system. There really is no better, faster or more effective way of doing it.

Also it would probably take longer, Its just easier to copy and paste into somewhere else then rebuild a map.
