Transferring custom weapons & replacing bipds

Could someone explain how to copy a custom weapon, like an M4 or uzi from one map into a different fresh map. Every time I try, the map stops working and it just bricks the map.
I would also like to know how to change the grunts on outskirts to be flood instead. I tried replacing all of the models and everything, but I couldn'd find the shaders i was supposed to change or something.
Could anyone explain both of these in step by step n00b-level tutorials? Basically I mean, dont say, now overwrite the model in darkmatter or something, instead say,(example: first open dothalo, click the weapon tag, and the weapon you want to replace, then copy the meta offset in the box above, and paste it over a different weapons meta offset to replace it)
