i have tried that tutorial that tural had for extracting halo 2 sounds correctly, and i can't even get the mirc thing to work. obviously, the mirc on that tutorial is out-of-date, and plus my free trial is out

i want to put my own weapon sounds and other things into the game. HEELPP!!!!!!!!

mIRC should still work after the trial is over, at least mine does. Look online for another IRC client, you will need one to connect to "the usual places" unless you can get a hold of the program that connects for you.

Here is a tool:
Halo 2 Sound Tools
You need to edit the sound files with
Sony Forge 8 or 9

He's having a problem setting the settings in the codec section. I don't have Vista, so I cannot help him.

You should put all your questions in one Topic.

next time, i will do that. but for now, i have vista, so for one thing, halo 2 sound tools doesn't work on vista. for a second thing, the codecs for that instalation thing for halo 2 sound formats are not there on vista. i think its cause it is a 32-bit format codec, and vista is a 64-bit format. i really hope someone can make vista have halo 2 sound formats. as for another, i am currently trying to edit the mainmenu sounds, the loop and in ones, but i tried ch2r, ADI, and halo 2 sounds doesnt work on vista, i don't know what to do! and my dad won't bring home his Xp laptop anymore, either.

Hahahahahaha. That is because when you are reinjecting, the length of the audio clip is not the same as you extracted.

I did read your posts, I'm just saying that it's different for different ones and if sound tools worked, it would tell you. Theres no other working tools for it to my knowledge.

There aren't really any good alternatives to Halo 2 sound tools...ADI and ch2r have been abble to extract and inject sounds for ages...That may help you out...
But yeah the best way is have XP on your pc as well...

h2st is a great tool and so is adi and ch2r...If you can't use them or figure out how to use them, then you're stuffed. I don't see a need for any other programs to be made except that other one...

ive tried ch2r and ADI, and my audio players always has an error and can't open the files. i even made ADI make it come out as .wmv

guess what? you need the xb_adpcm codec installed on your pc properly in order to use everything properly...Just because you put a .wmv extension, doesn't mean its .wmv
(why export as video?

)
Install the codec all done nicely and properly, once thats done you can properly open the files, then, get sony sound forge...You can then modifiy the sounds and save them in their proper format (unlike goldwave). If you don't know what that format is, ADI tells you and so does H2ST

i told you, I HAVE VISTA, and vista won't show me the codecs after i install the xbox format, the codec is 32-bit codec, but vista only handles 64-bit codecs

Yeah so? I HAVE VISTA tell me why I successfully installed, extracted, modified sounds from halo 2 on vista then?
Yeah, why do you think I've told you all thisinfomration on what works and what doesn't if I didn't have it?
God damm, I'm trying to help you here, there's no need for you to be repeating yourself over and over. But I guess, I should just not be helpful then...I'll just forget about being nice and trying to guide you through it...
If you can't do it from here, ask someone else.
