PLEASE SUPPORT TUNNELING SOFTWARE

The reason I'm posting this here, is because this is the only truley active forum on Halomods.

As I'm sure everyone is aware, all xbox 360 games have a built in ping forum. If you dont know what this means, its very simple. The only way to play 'system link multiplayer' is either thru xboxlive, or a lan party. This is microsofts way of getting rid of programs such as http://www.xbconnect.com and http://www.teamxlink.co.uk/.

Please post a negative opinion towards ping filters at http://www.bungie.net/Forums/posts.aspx ... s=true#end

This is the end of system link as we know it.

I dont think theres any need to freakout. the scripters around here always get the job done when its time. I think its halirous when Ms always comes out with their new system or software and claims its "unhackable".

I wonder if its possible to set up an almost identical system to xbl, and have your computer reroute the port to an xbc server. So the xbox thinks is on live but is actually on xbl and everything works fine. just an idea...

That was originally one of the ideas suggested before the tunneling software came about. If I remember correctly, one of the main reasons they did not attempt such a system was a fear of legal action from microsoft. Live is their baby and they don't want it hurt.

Theres probably a sneeky loophole in that, sort of like how everyone downloads from the "usual places" and thats ok.

Project Mimesis's original goal was to just fake being a DLC server - so people would just change their DNS numbers to think that their server was the DLC server, and then when they would go to download new Halo2 levels, they'd have the new hacked mimesis maps.
That idea never got very far :(

Downloading copyrighted content is not legal, even if you get it from the "usual places".

I refuse to register on Bungie's website. I hate that place. So very boring.

On the topic of tunneling, Xbox Live is free to use on the 360, so playing Halo 3 with your friends won't be hard as long as they have internet access on their 360s, and tunneling software will only be necessary for modders to play online.

However, I'm a modder, so I'm a little scared of modifying my 360 when I get it. I will definitely mod my 360, even if it means losing Xbox Live, but I still want to play online somehow. These are my headaches.

If games support System Link capabilities, then you can use a tunneling client.

Microsoft may try and block it, but there's always a way to get around stuff like that.
Just like the impossible-to-crack HD-DVD DRM.

Duh, no it isnt. You get free xbl silver account, which means you can buy their avaulable downloads, but no playing any games online except campign by yourself.

you cant buy their download on tunneling softwares

but i think that they should not put a ping filter on halo 3. cause one we start modding it we couldn't play our mods with each other, so think of it that way
