are you trying to put a bitmap with alpha that you just made in a map?

just make an alpha and a bitmap diffrent files
then in DXTBmp you can insert an alpha in a regular file and save it as a DDS file

Or do it the easy way, with Photoshop, as the thread creator asked.

In the layers window, there is a channels tab. Flip over to it an there may be an alpha channel. If so, edit it. If not, just click the Create New Channel button.
