Getting the update maps

I just recently started applying mods to my maps, but the problem is that I only have the stock ones and a lot of the mods are from maps that were given over xbox live with the update.
How am I supposed to get these maps?
I could connect to live and try to download them, but would that instantly report me as cheating? It is just a soft mod with stock hard drive.

The softmod won't get you banned.
Modded content maps will.
Just delete your three content download map packes and then sign into live and you can safely re-download the maps.

So you only get banned if you try to play a game over live with maps on you hard drive that are in their modded form?
K, i guess i'll just make sure to put all of the maps back to stock form and then i'll download the new maps.

m$ can tell if ur running h2 from ur hdd so u have to play unmodded also u can get banned from a softmod or hardmod, if u have a softmod put ur h2 game disc in and turn ur xbox off then turn back on that way skipping the dash so ms wont know u were on it, hard mod just turn ur modchip off

cant you just disable the softmod from the softmod installer disc (Splinter Cell, Mechassault and that other one) cause i used the NDURE exploit and i turn my softmod on and off the go on live and i havent got banned

Its not necessary to turn your softmod off, what halo0001 has stated does work.

exactly, just don't put any modified maps into the TDATA folder - /E/TDATA/4d530064/$s/ and you will be perfectly fine on xbox live, trust me on this one

I actually ended up getting ahold of the Multiplayer Map Pack disk from a friend and now I am trying to the maps to my computer, then to my Xbox.
Does anyone know which files are needed? Because there are actually quite a few and i don't know if it will still work if I delete any of them.

just install it to your xbox
pop the cd in and you can download the maps from it

Ok, but it put this in some subfolder inside the TDATA folder.
Is this ok? Is it just as easy to apply mods to the maps when they are in here?

no bc u need this special resigner which we cant discuss here
just add them to your main menu map

Then where exactly do I put them and what files do I keep with them?
I have already tried
-Just plain taking the .map files off of the disk and sticking them directly into the maps directory on my D drive
-Puting the whole update folder called 00000001 into my maps directory
Neither made the maps show up when I started up the game
