guys i just purchased a Pinacle instant dvd recorder capture card. i think its a capture card, at least. i plugged the colored wires from my xbox into the capture card, which plugged into the computer thru USB. i started up the program, and it started recording. however, it didnt show my xbox where the video was supposed to be shown. instead of showing my xbox screen in the recording window, it was just a black screen. the xbox IS ON.

Wow, talk about wrong forum... actually wrong board. Try the tech support forum for your capture card instead.

read the manual, call tech support. See if the card has a website

it matters if when you plug it in windows tells you you've plugged a 2.0 device in a 1.0/1.1 socket

i had this same problem a long time ago when i first got the same thing you are using... there are 2 types of captures, you might have it on the wrong one. Try switching to a different capture mode

sorry i dont remeber how to switch, so you will have to figure that out. but i think thats your problem. that was mine too

also try using this better capture program,

Code: Select all

http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/virtualdub/VirtualDub-1.7.1.zip?download
if you cant figure it out go to this tutorial:

Code: Select all

yeah it said this device can perform faster if its put in a 2.0 usb. DAMN. that must be it. cuz on the box it says that for maximum performance i need that.
