Q & A
Ask a question, get an answer.

First off, I just wanted to say that I think this forum deserves a Q&A topic, because the purpose of this forum was to talk about modding in general, and about mods in progress, not to flood it with question topics that have the question in the title. So this is the method I came up with...

PLEASE DON'T POST IF YOU'RE NOT POSTING A QUESTION OR AN ANSWER
  • When asking a question, use this format:
    Q: Question here.

    Code: Select all

    Q: Question here.
  • When answering a question, use this format:
    Q: Question here.
    A: Answer here.

    Code: Select all
Q: Question here.
A: Answer here.

Hopefully this topic can help some people out, and lower the number of random topics seen in this forum.

A: You can add attachments to the vehicle's hlmt to make the collision. If you want the attachment to be invisible you would need to null out the attachments model. The attachments are the turrets on the warthogs and other vehicles. That was how the Halo 2 motorcycle was made. I think there was a tutorial made for it so if you want you can search for it. I hope that answers your question.

Q:How would I go about making the Jackal Shield more transparent from the first person perspective? Is there and alpha value I can change?

Also, I agree with what you said about this portion being more geared towards mods in progress type stuff however I find topics which have the question in their subject make it easier for people to search the forums, this in turn prevents the type of questions that piss people off (ie how come I can't load my map. Did you resign it? No how do you do that? etc..) Maybe the best answer would be to have an entire section dedicated to Q&A? IE. Forum index>>Halo 2 Xbox>> Q & A . I've learned over the years that you can have all the data/info in the world but if its not easily queried it isn't much good.

Thanks,
Joe-mamma

A:Use a base map that already has death zones, then move those to your liking.

Q: How would I go about adding health to objects, such as bipeds.

I'm trying to make it so that when Flood Juggernauts die, they explode.

A: I'm pretty sure that the hlmt's are different for the first person perspective and the third person perspective so i would suggest trying to swap some of it's shaders and see if you can lighten it up without making it look different, if it doesn't matter whether it looks different then have a ball

A: In Dothalo there is a 'Health' Box (not 100% sure it'll work)

A. Edit the lightmap in the bsp viewer. I believe it allows you to edit each bitmap individually.

Correction of Answer: wrong. attaching objects does not bring there collision, the custom collision on my bike was created by editing the phmo

A:Use the new version of h2core when transferring a sbsp from sp. It doesn't matter what base map you use.

This might be to do with the software! When ive been using a capture card ive had to mess around with the software settings so i get the xboxs signal!

Im not sure with a Dazzle tho!
