Adding zoom to a weapon
Searched but couldnt find how to add a zoom. I want to add a zoom to the magnum pretty much like the halo 1 pistol. any tuts or something would help. thx
Well to add zoom to a weapon open up Entity then click on the weapon under the [weap] tag that you want to add zoom to. Then at the top click "Tools" and then click "Meta Editor". Wait for the Meta Editor to come up in the middle and then scroll down a little past half way. You should see three boxes. One labeled "Zoom Levels", one labeled "Min Zoom", and the next labeled "Max Zoom". If you want to be able to zoom in once like the BR then put a 1 in the box labeled "Zoom Levels", or you can put as many zoom levels as you like, but too many will make game play crappy. If you picked 1 Zoom Level then you will want to put the same number (like 2) in the "Min Zoom" and the "Max Zoom" boxes. 2 is the min/max zoom for the BR. If you put more than 1 for the Zoom Level, you have to pick what you want the first Zoom Level to be, and the last Zoom level. It will zoom somewhere in between those two if you put more than 2 Levels of Zoom. "Min Zoom" is the first zoom, and "Max Zoom" is the last zoom. Then when you are done hit the "Save" button at the top (I always hit it 3 times to make sure it saved). Hit the "Sign" button, and you are good to go.
P.S. Doing this to a weapon that normally doesn't have this will not make it look like you are looking into a scope. (Normal sniper rifle zoomed looks like you are looking into a scope) You would have to add new HUD items for it to look right. But that is kinda difficult. There is a tut somewhere on it.
Edit: Also if you want the weapon to have sound when it zooms in and out then you have to scroll down a little ways till you see a box labeled "Zoom-In Sound" and one labeled "Zoom-Out Sound" There should be two drop-down boxes next to each of those. In the first drop-down for both change them to "snd!". Then in the second drop-down for "Zoom-In Sound" change it to "sound\weapons\sniper_rifle\zoom_in". And for the second drop-down for "Zoom-Out Sound" change it to "sound\weapons\sniper_rifle\zoom_out". Hope that helps.
