im trying to set up my xbox to allow a system link game with my xbox360 using modded maps. (im not cheating so dont even start telling me i am)

i found out that you can make an xbox boot maps it doesnt have visible on the mainmenu during system link if the host has it on their mainmenu.

in my case i have the downloadable content on my xbox360 and i used my xsata to move the maps in their correct folders to the /E/TDATA/4d530064/$c/4d53006400000001/
/E/TDATA/4d530064/$c/4d53006400000002/
/E/TDATA/4d530064/$c/4d53006400000003/

now my xbox360 can start a system link match and the origional xbox can join it and play on the DLC maps

now what im trying to figure out is how can i tell the mainmenu.map to look into for example

E/TDATA/4d530064/$c/4d53006400000004/gate.map

instead of

E/games/halo 2/maps/gate.map

because once i can get that running i can xsata gate.map into TDATA/4d530064/$c/4d53006400000004/ on the xbox360 and start the game with the origional xbox in system link and the 360 will search TDATA/4d530064/$c/4d53006400000004/ for the map and boot it even if it wont be visible in the mainmenu

if someone can help me with this it would be great
thanks in advance

from what i understand, adding stuff to the main menu involves HEX.... but you seem too be doing it the oppisite way to every one else..... so.... it might be hard to do.

auctually, im guessing that you wouuld just follow a tutorial for adding the new maps to the main mennu.map, but just swap a few things around to make it work in the way that you want it to.

you have to edit the content files on your xbox to add to the menu that way, and the guys at memisis are the only people who know how to do that and they arent about to tell any1

so there is no way to make it search in that folder? im not trying to trick it into a live match like mimesis i just want the main menu to see another folder besides the maps folder.

You can do this, but I think you'll have to edit the .XBE, and change the folder that it looks for games from "D/maps" to "E/tdata....," and whatever folder you want it to be. However, I don't think this'll make it act as DLC.

He doesn't know, your going to have to find it urself as we just add it thru a mainmenu editor because it's easier. And the maps can't be used on live.

that didnt work so i went back and just changed any d:\maps\ to e:\maps\ and placed mainmenu.map shared.map singleplayershared.map and the fonts folder in e:\maps\ and that time i got to a dirty disk error. so im making progress

finaly some real progress. i realized that its not actually on the d:\ drive but the e:\ drive emulating the d:\ so i wanted to see if i was even heading in the right direction. so i just swaped every d:\maps\ to d:\mops\ and it works. so what that means is i am able to change the file location i just have to figure out how to get out of the emulated d:\ to the real e:\

The d:\ just means the directory of the xbe. That is why you can run games off of the HDD. If d:\ actually meant the DVD drive, when you run a game off the HDD it would still try to read off the DVD. D:\ is just the root of where the xbe is run from.

Xzodia pretty much gave you the right answer earlier. The only way to add more maps to the 360, is to edit the DLC. (Which is basically what Mimesis does) What you would need to do is edit the .lvl files, add more map slots to it, resign it, then build a content package with XDK or XLAST. I am not going to go into more detail, as there could possibly be a way to cheat by editing DLC files.

yes Monkey Terd and xzodia are both right you will need to build a actual DLC package and install it in the xbox360's tdata folder. Which would be pretty much impossible to do right now becouse it will have to be signed to that specific xbox. Which i doubt will happen anytime soon untill its possible to run homebrew on the 360
