Removing default symbols from behind name

Hello my name is wh0rse and I was banned from XBL. Dont leave yet, I can explain. I had the auto-reload-elite profile that was circulating around back in January 2005, before modding even became a problem (at least on XBL). Bungie "perma banned" me from matchmaking, but only two days later I had my account back to normal again. I guess they went lenient on me. All I ever even used it for was to dick around in custom games as the dreadnaught, I could launch a constant stream of rockets which was quite fun at the time.

Since then, I have cancelled the GT that was banned/unbanned, gone through two others, and deleted all my halo saves, and reformatted my xbox.

Yet still this problem remains: apparently when you are banned from Xbox live, bungie marks your xbox with symbols behind your name, much like the "bungie.net" that appears behind the gamertags of those who have "linked" with bungie.net. The symbols, though I have never seen them myself since they are invisible to me, are "stars," as some people explain it and "default symbols" as others do. I assume it is repeating instances the seventh column that is strewn across behind my name.

Ignorance runs rampant across XBC. There is a wild witch hunt for modders, and I am constantly being accused and kicked before I even start playing in a game. People have come to believe that "stars behind name = modding right now no questions asked." You can see how this aggrivates me, I just want to play the game.

Can someone technically inclined PLEASE tell me how to remove these symbols? They are not stored in the Halo 2 save data as far as I can see. I deleted that entire folder from my UDATA. I have a hardmodded xbox (Xecuter 2.3b since 2002) and can access all the files.

Please do not just be ignorant and dismiss me as a modder. Anyone who's played with me will back me up, I am NOT a modder.

thank you

well,.... since you explained it like that i might as well help out, now i have seen them symbols on XBL (back when i had a gamertag..... WinXP pissed me off (had to format) so i vowed never to give MS any more cash... subscription came up for renewal and i said NO MORE CASH F**KERS....) well... enough about that...

i have seen those logos, never knew what they ment, and from how you have explained it, it seems that the defining thing that causes them is stored in that xbox.... because if they appear on XBC.... then it is not a Live Only thingy.... i havent got the first idea on where to look for what to wipe... so... the only "quick fix" i can think of is IF you have access to another xbox then you could use it... but thats the only fix that i can think of...

sorry i couldent be of any more help.

:::EDIT::: i HAVE seen them Logos on the Halo2 SE DVD... all the dudes at Bungie had them behind thier names... so it could be that you might have some kind of weird version of the game?

This has gotta be the simplest answer but did you delete your profile and if you have why not try taking halo off the hdd and reinstalling it?

It may be in the XBL dashboard folder since I would assume it would keep info there as to your account status(IE banned or not).

Halo 2 might just look to there to see if you've been banned or not and then put the symbols accordingly.

So, the only thing that might work is get Slayers and put a fresh copy of the dashboard on. Go to xbox-scene.com for more info(DO NOT MENTION ANYTHING HALO RELATED OR THAT YOU MODDED ON LIVE; if you do, they will just ignore and lock all your posts).

He's not talking about the xbox's nickname, he's talking about his profile names...I've seen those on XBC(I think I recall seeing you actually whorse). I doubt it has anything to do with the nickname.xbn file.

I think I've found out where the problem is located, in my TDATA folder. I deleted that and now nobody says anything about symbols behind my name. But now I'm missing the new maps...

I know a few people are interested in this so I uploaded my TDATA onto a file host, minus the extra maps. Maybe you guys can figure out how to get rid of the symbols or maybe even change them to say something different altogether.

I deleted, or rather renamed and backed up, my halo 2 folder inside E:\TDATA on my xbox. It is given a hexadeciamal name or something, "4d530064" the folder was called. It contained the new maps and the patches that bungie has released over time. Basically just the stuff you get off live automatically when halo 2 updates

I uploaded the TDATA folder, 4d530064, for anyone who wants to see it, but I deleted all the new maps like containment and sanctuary

dont use any type of mods or modded xboxs on XBL and you wouldnt have this problem...i am one of those ppl that carefully watch for those banned ppl from XBL that play on XBC and Xlink...half the time they still are using mods :x

Whats funny though is i get accused of modding all the time in the no shields games lol.

Possibly could someone with an unmarked name please upload their TDATA folder as I did (minus the maps) so I can use their clean contentmeta.xbx files to enable my new maps again?

thanks in advance
