HaloMods "Classic" Read-only Archive

Ive been modding for a year and a half now and ive hated every second of it (almost) it took me 2 months to learn how to mod my box and i still cant FTP well i had a server for a while but lost it. ive had so much trouble modding halo 2 that i stoped and stuck to halo pc cuss its easy fun and online too

the point is i would like some help w/ a few Qs ive seen hundreds of tuts that i think i understand then the map doesnt work when i finesh so here is my first Q

ive been on XBL B4 i started modding and had the latest AU so how do i take them off to play maps??? i heard that you rename the file so i went into the HDD into the DLed content and any thing that wasnt a .MAP file i added a "A" to the begging and end of it so there are files that look like
"apatch.lvla" and some other stuff i didnt think i was to change the meta files but i did any way... i have 3 maps that work right now the rest ether say failed to load map B4 i even start the count down or it looks like its gonna work then goes black and back to the pregame lobby the maps that work are... lockout (its a home made map that all i did was change the lightmap or w/e its called for fun) headlong ( its modded name is undeadlong but it says head long on the menu... assension ( its a modded map i DLed here called zentation i think but it says assention like the norm

also when i load the first map when i boot halo it takes 10-15 mins to load i dont no y
also for some reason all of the animations are messed up when a nade blowes up instead of dirt fly it shoots these weird little triangles and the carbine is bright pink for some reson and so is the hog ( on every map) and for some reason it doesnt show on the menu that i have the new maps even tho there on my HDD and in the right spot.

Ok for the AU rename E-tdata-******64-$u to something like $u1.
For the weird nades and hogs that sounds like a messed up shared.map.
For the DLC maps you need to add them to your mainmenu.

So you want to Mod on XBL?

Did you read his post? Well to remove the AU you listen to that guy above.

you dont have to get rid of AU to play modded maps, you just have a hell of a time patching them to the mainmenu. Just replace your modded maps over the regular ones, resign, and if the patch/map is good it will start up. As for your stuff takin 10 min to load on startup, sounds like A)your box is hitting the crapper, or B)sometimes when you play off the HDD it just takes that long. to cut down the time keep switching loading between say lockout and midship and eventually one will pick up.

and coco, why is it if someone mentions XBL you are the first person to go cry and deem people cheaters?

umm yes as you heard from the other post im just gonna back it up... that i dont want to mod XBL thats Y all of my maps are on my HDD and thank you for the current answers im gonna try the rename thing
