Hello! Will this game work to soft mod my xbox?

Ok i am going to start softmodding my xbox. Will the "Best Of Platinum Hits Splinter Cell" game work? My AR will be here in a couple days. Ive been reading it will work, it wont, mechassault will work, mech assault will work only with a certian version, yada yada. So if it doesnt work will it mess my xbox up or will i just have to go to a used game store and buy it? Thanks.
