help adding new map

I have the descension map file, and I have edited it and the main menu map file. The new map shows up in the game, but only white shows, and I fail to load the map. I can't figure out why it won't load, I followed the steps to do it. Is there some more tutorials that somebody could point out, or tell me how to do it by replacing and old map?

Rename it Ascension.map for the meantime. Tell us EXACTLY what you did to the main menu.

I just edited this tag where this tutorial told me to and added a new map called dscension (this is what I renamed descension, so it was the same letters as ascension). I changed the value to 130 and the path to the same as the dscension file.
why rename it to ascension? is this to add it to the main menu of maps or to replace it with ascension. If it's easier to replace it, I don't use maps like waterworks very much.
it would be cool it somebody could just send me the main menu.map otherwise explain it to a slow noob
