when saveing skins what...

mip map option do i use i checked a few tuts but last time i skined a whole lvl with the wrong mip map option and it was dark unless close to it

I asked this same question before. I figured out that when you skin its best to work with extracting each bitmap and skinning those. When you save it incorrectly youll get an "alpha info will be lost" message. If you get that in my experience your almost always gonna have that darkness problem. I also want to add that you dont have to extract each one by one. I suggest doing that to really learn the map and what your skinning. With the mip option I tend to use "generate mip", when I used "no mip" I had darkness problems ( not always but mostly) Hope that helped :wink: .

any way i figured it out myself

regular skins-generate mip maps
lightmaps-no mip maps

it all depends on what your skinning ive always used generate mips maps and mostly it wouldnt work the easiest way to get it done right is to veiw it with the mip maps then edit all of them the EXACT SAME WAY then when u save it just press use existing mip maps always worked fine for me like that
