Ok, all i want to know is what programs i need, and how to set it up to get started on modding. I used to mod HaloPC before the disc got ruined, is it much different? what should I expect? A PM, Email, or Post here would be great. Im not asking HOW to mod, i can figure that out for myself. Basics might be nice though. And if you wont give this info for w/e reason, a point in the right direction/where to look might be nice. I checked the Tuts forum, but couldnt find exactly what I was looking for.

Anyway, Help me if you can. Thanks.

Well there have been alot of halo 2 modding programs.

Ch2r
ADI
H2edit
DotHalo
DarkMatter
Insolence
Prometheus

The last 3 are the only ones still being developed.

I would recomend Antman's Organizer, it has all the programs you need in one plus a bunch of tutorials. Here's the link to where you can download it: http://rapidshare.de/files/3578209/mt_setup.rar.html

Thanks. Im planning on Downloading that 141 map pack too.

Umm... One other question. Since Im betting that DL will answer my questions, this is the last one.

Now, Im not one of those people who wants to mod to win in MM. And I know because Im getting Mods, I will be banned from MM if I go Online with them(which I wont). How do I remove mods? Because I'll disconnect from XBL to use them, then remove them, reconnect, play with my friends. So, ya, how do I remove?

(Thats all I want to know for now) Thanks for your Help everybody.

The attudude has DEFINATLY improved since I left. Kudos and Congrats. You all deserve a cookie. :P

The 141 map pack personally is a waste of time. Just goto the files forum, and download the maps that look cool. 1gb+ of maps (not ppfs, maps) is a waste to me, and not all of them are top notch.

ok then. Im catching up more and more every minute. but what about removing mods/maps

and do the maps take over another map, or are some just created/edited then put it as another map. So Say Coag (norm) was modded, I know that ussually it goes over Coag, but could CoagMod also just be another map on the List along with Coag norm? or not? but the big question is, removal. How?

EDIT: what programs do you guys use? which one is "the best?"

Depends what job you want to do:

-Insolence: Drag and drop from map-map
-Dothalo: Bitm extraction, and all your modding needs
-ADI: Scenery placement, lightmap, model extraction.ect
-Darkmatter: Model injection and BSP viewer.
-Chunk Adder: Somewhat advanced, Adds "chunks" so you dont have to overwrite things already in the map.
-Bitmap Adder: Makes bitmaps like Guns and vehicles internal, so you dont need to FTP Shared.map or Mainmenu.map.etc for the skin to be seen.

Thats about all the modding programs you'l ever need to use. Note, there are alot more out there, but these are the main ones. Voyde has a Filefront link that has most of those on there, or you can download the All-In-One (search the forums)

Yes, you should have listed the (soon to be famous) Incompetent. Hey did you figure out if it can run on the Xbox-Linux yet?

If you cant ftp then all other info is useless. Head over to xbox-scene.com and check their networking tutorials. Nevermind, read through all of their tutorials. Youll need a crossover cable and most older comps( and some newer) require another network card(10 bucks, circuit city). Get those two things (and a pc close enough to your box of course) and start reading. Theres a good networking tutorial at afterdawn.com also with pics.

How do I FTP? Do I need the Crossover Cable?

I'm planning on making my own mods, but I'd like to see what I've missed since I left.

Yes you need a network card and a crossover cable to ftp into your xbox. Go to xbox-scene.com for more info on modding your xbox.
