HaloMods "Classic" Read-only Archive

First off, I have read all there is to read on this site about getting this to work. Nothing seems to be working for me and I'm sure it's a simple fix.

I can not get the maps to show up. I have tried the encryptomatic tool, and it still did not show up. The only map I'm trying to get working now is Descension by The Swamp Fox. Loaded that into encrypto and it said "Fantastic", so I FTP'd into my box and placed the file in the maps folder. Never showed up on the list.

To get .ppf files to work, I'm supposed to grab the original map and the .ppf and combine them together with ppf o matic right? Then I take the .map file that the ppf was applied to and sign it with the encrypto program and finally place it in the maps folder. Not working for me either.

What's going on? What am I missing?

Final Q... If I mod the Halo 2 game that is on the HDD, will I still be able to play live from the cd? Or will these modded maps get put in a cache folder somewhere for Bungie to find?

EDIT: Also, is it possible to have Descension and Ascension, or does one take place of the other? If I apply a ppf to an original map, can I keep a copy of the original and rename the modded one to something else so they can both stay on HDD and be playable?

ok ill tell you what to do first transfer the orginal map from your xbox to a folder on ur desktop then open ppf-o-matic and and open the orginal map and the ppf and combine them good then open TF6 sig program and use it on the map then transfer it bak to ur xbox use flashFXP it works well for this

and i think u could have both maps but its hard work try and do this first can post bak

That's what I've been doing. Do I have to edit any .ini file things?

just one little thing about xbox live:
NEVER GO ON XBOX LIVE WITH A MODDED XBOX!

because microsoft can scan your xbox remotely and then crash it.
so i wouldnt recommend it.
and you will be suspected as a cheater of course

Thanks for the tip, but no. I'm not wasting my subscription like that. And I asked on x-s about random scans like hdd scans and lpc bus scans and the people said ms does not do that. They also said if I follow the marriage theory I will most likely never be banned.

Well, the by far simplest solution is to download Serenity, on the insolence website. Locate your main map, locate the new map, and click, YOUR DONE w00t. Then encrypto it, ftp and ur set.

Take the original map. off the CD, open Dot halo, and hit Apply PPF and fill in all the respective values. Then hit Fix Encryption (if its not a DLC map) and close it and Transfer it to your xbox and overwright the original file. If the map fie has a different name then the original, then either edit the Main Menu.map to find it, or rename it to the original map file.

Example

Ascension.map on hard drive,
Decension.map on PC

-Rename Decension to Ascension.map, and FTP
or
-Edit Main menu.map so it can read Decension.map.

How would one go about editing the mainmenu.map file? That's the problem right there. I tried transferring it named Descension without ever telling it to look for it.

Does the dot halo program's "fix signature" thing do the same as what "encryptomatic signature" does? I believe encrypto resizes the thing to the same size as the original. At least that's what teammodders.com says.

From my topic starter post, will these modded map files get put in the cache or anything where bungie can find it and ban me?
