Extracting and Injecting A8Y8 DDS Bitmaps?

Is there any way in the future that anyone can support this? It's a pretty uncommon format within Halo 2, I know, but I would love for it to be supported in any program via a plugin. The one reason I really want it is to be able to edit the shield HUD. I want to get a different bitmap in there for the shield if possible, and I already have a bitmap ready. Can anyone help me here?

all i can say is, i also have had this problem, i tried editing a map image of zanzibar and well it didnt work out to good. So i would alos like to know.


have you searched for plugins for photoshop

..., you have no clue what I'm talking about. It's not editing a map image - that I can do just fine, it's the editor's support for this format of textures.
