Changing skies/applying skins/changing names *HELP*

Post by Looper55 »

Hello. Ive been bugging myself for ages to ask about this but i never got around to it.

1. Every time i get a modded map and apply the ppf to an already existing map, i always see these skies that appear to be custom. I was wondering how i can possibly make my own sky or apply a mixture from different maps.

2. And i have no idea for applying warthog skins. Can someone give me a hand? Oh, and lastly does anyone know how to change vehicle/weapon names?

1. The skies you see are custom skinned. Let me know what tools you have so i can tell you what you need.
if you have photoshop, lemme know about that too.

OK here goes nuthin :p

1. Install this plugin if you havnt done so already -> http://www.nvidia.com/object/photoshop_dds_plugins.html (the download is on the left)

2. Run ADI (should have this prog)
3. Open map of desired sky mod.
4. Navigate down the [bitm] tag to scenarios/skies/multi/halo/....
these are the bitmaps that need to be edited for your custom sky.
5. Click on your desired object to edit.
For example if you want to edit the ring and make it red instead of blue you would click on scenarios/skies/multi/halo/coagulation/bitmaps/coag_ring
6. With your desired bitmap selected click on the raw data editor.
7. you should now see an image with options to save/inject textures, bitmaps, and submaps. (were only concerned with textures)
8. Click save texture and take note of of the DXT type it is (under "edit bitmap" reading DXT1, DXT2/3, DXT4/5...if its not a dxt leave it alone)

10. Open your texture with the plug-in equipped photoshop.
11. Now using photoshop skills, you will edit the file to be the way u want.
*note* if you want something to dissapear (ex. clouds) simply make the alpha channel black.

12. Now you must save the file and make sure its saved as dds. (if youve added layers you must flatten the image to do so). A screen allowing you to choose which DXT type to save as will pop-up, choose the correct type, according to what ADI told you it was.

13. Now simply go back to ADI go back to the bitmap and click inject texture. Select your edited texture and viola, your sky is edited.

dont forget to sign your map.
