I quit to party
. BUt then I got caught
, and so i do a little of both now. But vista and modding don't mesh very well at all. The problem for me is I have been around for so many great modders, my standards for a mod are so high, so no matter how good i think my mod is it gets shit on by theres, and I never release.

I stopped for the same reason as many: Time consumption. I do not know any programming, but if I did I would be more than happy to help out with a new application. What I would like to see is a fully automatic AI transfer system. Where you select an AI character and the application does everything for you. I would also like to see either an in depth tutorial on how to transfer a BSP (Pictures, preferably video) or a tool that will do it for you. Although this would make it easier for any old modder to have either AI or a custom BSP, I think it would allow maybe some members who would have never developed an amazing map start making new, custom things. Some people have potential, just do not know how to do some things as for the complexity. I would LOVE to start modding again. Specifically to remake my Coagulation Warthog Wars map. I lost the Serenity patch sadly. My issue with this is I do not know how to bring in BSPs from other maps. Anyways, I might rejoin the community. Remnant was a good idea but it seems even that didn't help the community to continue.

I know there are atleast two different tutorials on how to get a bsp into another map. Using either Entity or h2core and h2guerilla.
I also have to agree though. How much time you put into a mod clearly is displayed when you have finished it. When being so busy, it does tend to become difficult to create a good modification let alone finish it. I've got plenty of things unfinished that I may or may not go back to. Which then leads me to self motivation or lack there of. I'm lazy as fuck. So that doesn't help at all, and i'm guessing a few other members could agree with me.
Another thing, if you want to help create programs and etc...You are where you need to be then. There are plenty of resources online especially this site that will help you along. You just need to take the time to research and practice. Again, time consumption may be an issue but this is a hobby. Just try to work it around your normal schedule.
Side Note* Some programs are kept secret to the public until completion. What the hell would be the point of releasing a half ass-ed program? Example: Xapien. Not completed. Thus no release. Maybe he sent it to be tested by somebody else on a different setup (computer, software installed...) Instead of the person keeping it under wraps, they fuck it up and release it to others. Thus making the original creator feel dis-respected. Shit, I don't think many people would want to finish a project that other's ruined for them already. There's also the sense of surprise to the community. It's fun seeing other's become excited and happy that something new and powerful was released for their amusement. I could go on but i'm done.

I've tried modding, and it isn't working very well, but Ive been reading alot of tuts, and trying to make a basic mod.
Does anyone have an explanation of why when I clone the rocket launcher ammo which I have set to spawn as trees, a weapon freezes my xbox when shot? Like, when I clone 20 trees, the sniper screws up. When I do 3, the PR screws up, but not the sniper.

The cloner works just fine if you know how to manipulate it just right.
Besides, that sounds more like an issue with plug-ins.

I don't use Inception for chunk cloning when I can do it in Entity. The only thing I use the app for is RTH and nothing more.neodos wrote:No chunk cloner *** sucks, i fixed whatever plugin i needed to clone any tag and always same prob, the chunk cloner doesn't work properly that's all.
It may works fine when you have Inception, eh Demonic? >_>
Entity's is still my chunk cloner.
And my opinion is based on the fact that Entity's chunk does work just fine and only faults from faulty plugins, faulty computer software, or actions by the user.
Your issues with it are not because the app itself but your screwed plugins or PC.

Indeed Entity should be fine... There's some minor problems, but for the above stated it should be perfectly fine if you're doing it correctly..DemonicSandwich wrote:I don't use Inception for chunk cloning when I can do it in Entity. Xzodia's plugins will kill your maps if you don't take out the labels and unused values. There were mainly made for Meta Editing. I recommend the original plugins for cloning.Themandyou wrote:I've been doing that cloning with Entity UE 1.6 and XZodia's plug-ins. Should I go to 1.3.9 with the plug-ins it came in.

That may be the worst thing that's ever happened to HaloMods. The criticism of the mods that aren't perfect. Though, criticism can be good, why have we come to accept the mentality that if it isn't perfect, don't release it? This isn't a competition to release the best mod.foxfanatic23I7 wrote:my standards for a mod are so high, so no matter how good i think my mod is it gets **** on by theres, and I never release.
I hate what's happened, I don't know if it's because we've lost a lot of people, or if it truly is because of mod bashing, but hardly anyone releases mods anymore.
We should feel comfortable releasing anything we create, no matter how small or insignificant. We aren't, nor should we, strive for perfection. The Downloads section wasn't created for ubersuperfantastic mods, it was created for anyone who wants to release a creation.
And an FYI for all you critics out there, a positive thought is much stronger than a negative one, so try replacing that "Dude, this mod is overdone, it sucks, and it really need work." with a "Great job on the mod, man. Keep workin' at it!"
