I come back after a year( leaving halo 3 behind),because I remembered all the good times I had modding, only to find an apocolyptic setting on these forums with out anyone producing any mods.Is halo 2 modding for the xbox truly dead?(cue violin music)
Most modding on Halomods is dead. Even Halo PC is getting there.
As for H2X modding outside of Halomods, there's Remnant Mods, a community of who was left of the death of H2X modding:

Outside of that, I'm not completely sure. There's also ModHalo, but I don't pay attention to how many people mod H2X there.

I wouldn't say modding is dead, but it's no longer driven by people wanting admiration and acknowledgment. The people who are left do what they do for fun, and often do not end up releasing, or finishing their mods because the demand for them is no longer as high as it once would have been. If you knew people were going to play and enjoy your mod you might feel more involved and motivated to finish, but as it stands it feels more like something to do for ones own personal enjoyment.
