Use DXT2/3 and DXT4/5 format bitmaps for the HUD bitmaps.
One of those types works with meter bitmaps, and the other works with masks and what not.

ya, I fixed the shield meter but I can't get weapon ammo meters to work correctly.
I'm having problems getting the ammo meter to work right. I want it to un highlight each bullet rather then having a bar going accross.

Try setting the rounds in the magazine and rounds per shot so that the math makes the bar look like it changes discretely.
For example, if you have 12 bullet bars in your HUD, the magazine holds 18 rounds, and you fire one ammo per shot, then each shot will make 2/3 of a bar disappear. To fix this, put 12 rounds in your magazine. Or put 36 rounds in the magazine and fire 3 ammo per shot. Etc.
Unless I misunderstand your question completely...

thats what I do, I can't get it to work right without making the ammo meter a giant square. I'll get a screen shot of what I mean.CaptainPoopface wrote:Try setting the rounds in the magazine and rounds per shot so that the math makes the bar look like it changes discretely.

EDIT: It decides to work when I go to get a screenshot,

BTW, what is the most detailed bitmap format halo has that photoshop can save in.
2nd EDIT: I seem to get a working meter 1 out of 100 tries or something, and I noticed when I close an image in photoshop after saving it and then re-open it the gradient gets a little glitchy. I think photoshop may be saving my images poorly.
