adding pieces to scnr tag

I just want to make sure, I need to add device groups, ctrl palette, ctrl placement, weapon palette, local objects, and weapon placement to a map, as well as scripts. Can I just cut + paste + delete all I don't need? Or are there any preparations I must take for any of these? Thanks.
Also, the ctrl for the zanzibar gate is attached to the gate. Can I unattach it? Or does it matter?

you can unattach it, in the control placement and the mach placement there is a value that point to the control group chunk number. just set those to -1 and it will make the control linked to nothing. this is also how you link controls to other machs also.
