Fall Damage in SP

Post by Fused »

How would I go about negating the Fall Damage in Campaign? I tried altering the Damage Effect tags in each map and the single_player_shared.map, but no dice. The tags I edited were under Damage Effects>Falling and Damage Effects>Distance. They were both set to 125 min and max damage and I set them to zero. Any ideas?

Thanks.

Are you talking about falling out of the map to your doom or actual impact-with-the-ground damage? 'Cuz there shouldn't be any of the latter in Halo 2 unless you turn it on yourself.

I'm talking about in Single Player Campaign mode. Ever noticed if you fall a set distance you will die? So if I alter the jump distance tag to 15, whenever I jump into the air, as I an coming down, I will die every time. No impact is needed, As soon as you fall a certain amount, your character just goes into death mode.

It's kinda sad.

There is no fall damage in Halo 2. Only in Halo 1.

Actually there is. But maybe to be clearer, I should refer to it as a Fall Timer. Try it out, see for yourself. Set a jump for 15, and go into the level and jump straight up. You will die every time as you fall back to the ground. It works the same as if you were falling off the map.

That's the thing...I don't want to be invincible. I'm building a version in which the enemy count through the whole Legendary Campaign has been tripled, and I don't want invulnerability. I guess I can sacrifice the super jumping but I was really hoping for a solution that would let me have my cake and eat it too.

Haha.

once i get home i'll take a look for the fall timer. It might be under the globals but im not 100% sure.

edit: i checked it and in insolence it should be the values under damage in the matg tag.

Ok, I found it. Should I make it a high or low number? I made each of them 99 and it didn't seem to have an effect. Still died every time. Should I set these to zero? Thanks.
