Sp to Mp conversions.

Post by DeviousDave »

Ok... what exactaly is needed to convert a portion of a SINGLEplayer map into a MULTIplayer map?

Is there anything out there that will do it or do you need and editor and XDK?

As far as I can tell, TSF is keeping it a secret... so much for the modding community...

Anyways, the XDK has little to do directly with Halo modding... I don't see how it'd be any useful...

That's too bad...

As far as I know... bungie wrote Halo 2 in C (or some varient) and then used the XDK to partially compile the code into something the xbox can read ie an xbe. Actually that's the process for any game. So.. by having the XDK you could decompile the .map file into something useable in something like Visual basic or a C editor.

But I don't know if .map is something the XDK does or if it's a general compression state.

Anyway... please correct me if I'm wrong ^^^ that's just what I believe.

lol... it's illegal unless you call up Microsoft and tell them you're a developer... and pray to god they'll give you one, which they won't.

I'm pretty sure you could find a leaked one somewhere...

Halo 2 maps are probably not really written in c (or C++ for that matter), but who knows they may be some form of DLL.

I once head that the halo 2 map compression method is probably a form of Gzip. Not sure if that helps.

I recall downloading some program once and in the rar archive there was a .map file but it had nothing to do with halo2. It was for some other program... so yeah, that's what makes me think it's not just a halo2 thing.

TONS of pc/console games use the .map extension in their programming, halo 2 wasn't the first
