Xbox LIVE Problem

I have in the past never played Xbox LIVE but in the last week I went out and bought myself an Xbox 360 Elite. Damn thing's noisy but it works eh'? Anyways I went and put a borrowed halo 2 disk into the tray; then loaded the game up; then went to create a new profile. The profile creates then I'm taken to the Live Sign in Screen were I select my Xbox Live Gold Enabled Username (Free 1 monther). It then goes to a screen that says:

XBOX LIVE

You have an important message from Xbox Live.
Would you like to go to Account Management in
the Xbox Dashboard?

"Start Account Management"
=========================
"Continue Offline"
=========================
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Now of course I want to play Live but I don;t know what to do because there is no "Message in Account Management"...

I'm getting really annoyed if that help

In the 360 dashboard, go into settings, Parental Controls or Family Settings (forget what it's called), and make sure you have it set so you're allowed to play online and play xbox1 games.
